Jon Banks has been the permanent manager of 6 clubs in his FFO career. Today we look at his favourite signings from each of those clubs.
Norwich City – S1 to S2
“This one is easy. Jermain Defoe came in on loan from Spurs and got us to the play offs. His goals in those games got us promoted and set the club up for the next season. It also gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward in the Prem that next season and we would have finished top 4 easily… had I not left for Man United with 7 games to go”
Manchester United S2- S11
“There were so many, but Ronaldinho has to be the one. We signed him from Barcelona in S8 – they were worried he was getting too old. We won the DPT (well the equivalent of it) that season and the FA Cup the next season – so he was key for us”
Brighton S11-S11
“I didn’t sign anyone, I hate my time there and I don’t want to talk about it”
Real Murcia S12-S15
“S_Aguero was the man that got us over the line in “Operation Domination”. We set out to win ROE2 and we won it at a canter, only losing 5 games all season and winning 28/38. The points record has never been broken.”
Borussia Monchengladbach – S16 to S29
“There is only 1 name I need to give here. Timo Werner. Scored a hatful of goals for us and we rose from also rans in EFL2 to 2nd place finishers in EFL1. We could have won the title a couple of times but we didn’t. Timo was the man that would score the goals when we won 1-0 or 2-1. A couple of cups and finals were won because of him.”
FFO Soft Reset
Bayern Munich S1- Current
“This is a tough one given we have had 2 poor seasons finishing 8th in both. I would probably say that it has to go to Musiala currently. He played the most last season and looks like he will be with us another 10 seasons at least – but this answer could change if one of the new guys becomes a mega star, YEAH!”
