  • Jason v Garysean £10 bet

Recent media has suggested that the forthcoming season has brought about a £10 bet challenge between Jason Hopton and Garysean Wilson. The possible bet which has yet to be accepted by the mouth of the north Wilson is who will finish highest between his Inter Milan side and Simon Marsh's Atletico Madrid. Wilson was scathing in his attack on Hamza 5-3-2P Siddiqui for caretaking the side into champions league contention. Wilson wanted more and returned to the club to steer them to a 7th placed finish, just below Atletico Madrid. Fresh in the press this week Wilson appeared to claim that Inter Milan would have finished higher had he been at the helm all season. However, finance man Hopton was complimentary of the job that Marsh has been doing over 3 seasons with the Atletico club. Wilson was quick to scoff suggesting that Atletico, formerly known as Ascoli were a top side full of quality and that Marsh has done nothing. Certainly Marsh has deliviered 0 trophies and has not come close, although he would argue that luck of the cup draws has not favoured his side. However, Ascoli had the 14th highest wages in EFL1 when Marsh took over and they have punched to 08th 08th and 06th placed finishes over those three seasons. These are the statistics that Hopton clearly favoured Atletico continuing their improvement but Wilson was having nothing off it claiming Marsh rarely deals in the transfer market. There could be some truth in this fact with Inter Milan taking first advantage for the forthcoming season by pipping Atletico to the signing of Danny Olmo tonight.

After all the cheap talk this week the footballing world awaits its answer............the £10 or is it £19 bet.......is it on?

We’ve caught up with Hopton for his take on the story:

”This all started with a whinge by Gary Sean, I know that’s not surprising, claiming it’s impossible to progress as a team or manager whilst the current financial market and lack of FFP regulation exists. But I completely disagree.

Whilst Leverkusen, formerly Wolfsburg have not progressed to the heights I expected of them it’s clear to see a number of teams from recent years who have broken into the top ranks.

Roma from nowhere to champions. Although some would suggest a regulated FFP may have prevented this.

Bayern, when I took over Wolfsburg, Bayern, formally BMG were a league two side pushing for promotion, now they are a top 8 team.

Atletico, yes Marshy did inherit a good young team but he has taken them into a new level and made them not just a mainstay in league 1, but a team you’d expect to push the top 3 of Madrid, PSG and Roma.

So my question for GS. Is it not a fault of the game but more a black hole in your managerial ability that has led to Inter never achieving anything despite the clear quality within the team.

I will look forward to collecting my £10/£19 at the end of my season, and add the “beat GS at a bet” to my very empty trophy cabinet.”

So far, after 2 games, 2 points seperate Gary “lazy C” Sean and Marshy’s Atletico.

That vital 2 points taken away from Inter by a dominant Leverkusen performance away at the Guiseppe Miazza. How important will that draw be? Hopton is already dreaming about how to spend his £19

New Ferrari, new phone? Luxury holiday abroad?

Not only is he dreaming about his £19, but he is also looking down at Inter wondering if this is the year they can finish above them and grab a champions league place.

A good start for Leverkusen and such a shame to see Inter roll out the lazy C in their last two games, desperate times call for desperate measures at under fire Gary Sean’s Inter Milan side.

Garysean has continued his media with regards to Atletico Madrid this last 24-hours claiming the side is the last of the old FFO youth era and implied the side has improved through the selling off of youth assets. Manager Simon Marsh, whilst accepting the side he inherited was a very good one, it was in 14th place in the wages department of EFL1.

Marsh commented "We had 4 top young players when I arrived. Frimpong, Sessegnon, Diaby and Vinicius Junior. All 4 remain at the club. We have built a team around the 4 by improving the other 7 starters. Yes, we got 3 seasons of re-rates for the 4 players which has helped take the club forwards but the main improvement has come from upgrading the other 7".

Is Garysean attempting mind games already so early in the season? Is he cracking under the pressure of currently losing £19?

There are still 39 games to go and a massive 117 points to play for. A bet that is likely to be the most interesting battle of the season bar the 3-way title race and relegation places.

With only two games to go the £19 bet has been sealed, Atletico are set for a top 5 finish and GS has demonstrated once again his ability to take Inter backwards.

Congratulations go to Marshy who has taken the better Madrid from strength to strength since he has taken over. We reached out to comments from Hopton who has had a successful season himself with Leverkusen near the top end of DPT qualification:

”It was never in doubt, betting against a deluded GS is like betting on hamza to disappear at least once a season.

How he claims to have improved Inter is beyond me, they are still a top 8 side but with GS in the helm for a couple more seasons, I could see them falling out of the Champions League places.

In terms of the £19, it was never about the money, GS can keep it and shove it up his arse as far as I’m concerned. This was about being right, and as per usual GS was wrong, not that he will ever admit it.”

"I could see them falling out of the Champions League places" Says Jason hopton for the 30th season running as he takes control of his 17th club in FFO as the mananger continues to live in fantasy land and live his life through others success while slowly ruining every team he touches.
