Convincing display and even with 2 key men missing we got it very right today, we lead 2-0 (Adeyemi bagging a rare double) in 13 minutes before a 17th minute injury lead to us needing to use the bench early doors with Alex getting some unrequired minutes. Thankfully Porro doesn't join the attacking pair in the treatment room, we scored a 3rd in the second half with Smith getting another goal off the bench. We managed to get some minutes in as stated, some more than others but all in all a very good day at the office for us given recent form.
Firmly in our most difficult run of the season with the top three against us in consecutive games, but Palace showing some real fighting spirit to salvage points. We conceded with the very first highlight, but levelled in the first half. Tried to be pragmatic but maybe overly so, shutting up shop a bit early and Chelsea took advantage to retake the lead, but after Dike's goal was ruled out, Eze salvaged us something really late to halt Chelsea's winning streak.
We're maybe not the most entertaining side with 9 draws from 18, but hopefully we're building up a reputation of being tough to beat - only Arsenal, Chelsea and United have lost fewer over the first 18 games. We need to conjure up something magical to get something even at a horribly out of form City with a suspended Anton, but it will be Martinez's debut so hopefully not all is lost.
Good game Steve - Chilwell a heck of a signing for you.
A better performance and again a much needed 3 points given our lowly league position. The only criticism in this one is that we should have scored more goals but Onana made 17 saves to keep things respectable. Mudryk scored again and seems to be finding some form - just in time for him to be stripped of the captaincy.
Things are pretty tight in the table - we're only 6 points above the bottom 3 but on the flip side only 6 points off being 4th top. Hopefully we can start to find a little more consistency in our results and start climbing up the league table as top 8 is the absolute minimum we should be looking for.
Rob has had Palace ticking over nicely recently so I knew it wouldn't be easy. Chilwell once again popped up on the scoresheet, this time with two goals, and it looked like we were heading for three points. Palace didn't give up though and pulled it back level through Eze on 86 minutes. On reflection we could say we could have tightened up late in the game, but that's now how we play, we'd rather go and score another goal than sit back and this time it didn't work out for us. Still a point on the road isn't to be sniffed at in the prem, although Varane went off injured also and will miss 2 games. However, one of them will be the dead rubber CL game, and the other a guranteed home banker, so it wasn't too bad..
Fresh from the European win over Real Madrid, it was back to domestic action and back the draws yet again for Arsenal as they were held yet again to a team that on paper they should be getting maximum points from. Once again, a poor performance by Arsenal that saw them create just three shots on target yet again with one finding the net from Defender Raum after going behind once again. You can look at it s a point away which is never to be sniffed at but performance wise it was poor by the Gunners who find themselves now five straight daws and many points dropped in their quest to keep the pressure on the sides above but the last five or six games have been far from acceptable.
