Possibly an expected result but maybe not the margin. City created more shots but we were more clinical. The result only eases our relegation worries a little, moving us up 1 place to be still in dire straits. But a win is a win.. Thanks for the game, Jon.
Bit of a squeaky bum time game in the end, as we took a chance to bring two 17's on when 2 up early in the game. It nearly backfired however, as Sevilla came right back into the game.
We started fairly adventurously with 3 up front and P, and raced into a two goal lead in the first eleven minutes, a score which kicked in the two subs.
Berardi and Chuk amongst the goals again, and Cancelo had a good game at the back.
Was it worth the stress to get two squaddies 88 minutes each? just about. Sevilla played well and nearly got the point, ul dude.
The only downside was the late sending off for Wan Bisaka, but with a not too important Euro game coming up, it could be worse.
There was good news elsewhere as both PSG and Munich lost points, to slightly stretch the Euro positions.
The gulf in class is starting to show after an excellent start to our campaign. To be fair we were 2-1 down and still in it with twenty minutes to go until I shouted out 'A' to the players to try salvage something - ending in a bit of a blow out. We learn from our mistakes and just want to keep our top 8 aims alive.
Lens Completely Dominated by Inter Milan in 7-1 Defeat
In a match that Lens fans will want to forget, Inter Milan imposed their will and secured a resounding 7-1 victory. From the first whistle, Inter Milan showcased their dominance, leaving Lens struggling to keep up.
The home team took control early on, with a flurry of goals that left Lens reeling. Inter Milan's relentless attacking play and clinical finishing saw them net seven goals, leaving the Lens defense in disarray. Despite their best efforts, Lens could only manage a single goal, which did little to change the outcome of the match.
Inter Milan's performance was a masterclass in football, with their players displaying exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination. The result was a stark reminder of the gap between the two teams and the challenges Lens faces in competing at this level.
For Lens, this match will serve as a harsh lesson and a motivation to regroup and improve in future fixtures. The fans will be hoping for a swift recovery and a return to winning ways.
