Much, much better. Showed what we're all about against a tricky Inter side who have started the season well. This level of performance is the benchmark now and we need to perform at this sort of level every game.
We went ahead and got it to 2-0 before Inter striked back. We didn't panic though, sorted ourselves out and added a further two. Nice to see Rodrygo get a brace.
With the arrivals of Lobotka and De Jong this weekend we can hopefully push on and make up ground on the league leaders.
The FFO gods hate Atletico that much is clear. 2 point something seasons of shocking luck continue with a 1-1 draw from a 21-8 shot count playing most of the game with home advantage and tactical advantage and with a goalkeeper crying off after 39 minutes is just another chalk on the wall for this hated club.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Im fucking clueless as to what else I can do to be honest" and walked off.
He did leave his apologies to Cheyenne for a teamsheet mistake that led to Christante swapping positions for the final third.
We scraped the three points in this one. Which keeps us undefeated and somehow top. Granted we've only played two top 10 sides, so we know there is a very long way to go as we are still yet to play the real big boys.
We went behind before Simons pulled one back, and then we grabbed two more through Sesko and then Wharton, but Celtic kept coming and got one goal back and made us sweat to the finish line.
We continue to give some minutes to fringe players,
Pheww! I'd almost given up on this one before the injury time heroics.
We tried mixing things up with formation and tactics, going E against a suspected C, and so it started. It went well at first with the early goal from Berardi, however Lisbon switched to A to take the tactical advantage, and scored two goals to take the lead on 69 minutes. We switched to A as well, and threw everything at Lisbon. It looked like we were going to be robbed, but no, injury time goals from Berardi again, and a winner from Chuk took the win.
The stats indicated it was a well deserved win, but the game was far from straightforward. ul Jase.
Next up is a double header against Roma, in league and Europe, and they have been struggling, but might be like wounded animal ready to strike..
Marseille started the game strongly, taking an early lead with three goals in the first 20 minutes. Lens fought back valiantly, managing to pull two goals back and making it a tense 3-2 scoreline. Despite their efforts, Lens couldn't equalize further, and Marseille held on to secure the 3-2 victory.
Banging result at home, Juventus had the pressure of being the favorite, they dommed the possession of the ball, but at the time to attack Barcelona was more aggressive and lethal.
Beating candidate number 1 for the title is worth a lot at this early stage when every point counts and is necessary not to suffer ahead.
Round 4 saw the parisians visit the blue side of Glasgow. The home team had the better of the early exchanges, but it was the visitors who scored first, through club talisman, EB Haaland. An immediate change to the European tactic would appear to give PSG the edge, but a on their next attack, weetabix hands managed to tip a shot onto the post before it came back and hit him on the head before deflecting into the net, to level things up. However, three quick goals in 6 minutes appeared to put the tie beyond reach, and TAA was allowed to venture into the AM spot, leaving the visitors playing a very attacking 40033A. Just after the half hour mark, TAA got his reward, and the fifth for the visitors. The frenchmen went in at the break 4 goals to the good. On the hour mark Hakimi was brought off to give a squaddie some valuable minutes, and it soon became apparent that 3 defenders and a squaddie wasnt that strong against home and tactical advantage, and the hosts pulled back a goal to make it 2-5. However, the visitors eased back on the attack and EBH was taken off to give another squaddie some valuable minutes. There were no further goals. Despite getting a brace, EBH was disappointed not to get the man of the match award, which surprisingly went to the Georgian, despite not even getting on the scoresheet. Ramos and Ansu Fati also got on the scoresheet.
