    AC Milan 1-0 RMA

    Welcome to EFL 1...
In all honesty we should have got something from the game considering the amount of opportunities we had but somehow our 25 and 24 rated FWs couldn't covert one of the 15 chances that came their way. AC Milan weren't looking to attack but tried to stay strong at the back and counter, they got their goal and shut up shop. We move on and know three points are a must at the Bernabeu on Friday.

      Atletico Madrid 2 - 0 Bayer Leverkusen

      B_Cristante (28), M_Odegaard (80)

A new season and one that the fans begin with renewed hope that this one can better than the last. Atletico would start at home to a side who they would be expected to win and on the night they did more than enough to take all three points.

A shot count of 26-7 proved the home side worthy winners and was it not for a great performance by 24-rated Bijlow the scoreline could have been more. For some time the game was in the balance with Atletico struggling to add a second goal until late in the game. Thankfully the defence stood tall and Martinez dealt with the few chances Leverkusen managed on target.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Whilst a little frustrated we did not score more when we look elsewhere at both results and performances the esms gods have had a party tonight. They must have enjoyed the long off-season and let their hair down and the result is quite manic. We are very pleased therefore to get the three points and look forwards to the game at Marseille who started the season well with a win at Barcelona"

        Juventus 1-0 Rangers

An absolute dog fight to get this 3 points. Brian set up to keep it very tight at the back but did not sit back, they came and put up a good fight and it took us until the 90th minute to scrape the win. Joao Felix stepping up showing us why he is the man. Rangers will take alot of points of our rivals this season so this is definitely the first banana skin avoided of the season, and we are pleased to take the three points, even if we didn't look pretty doing it and were very wasteful in front of goals.

Thanks Burrows@Rangers good luck for the season

          Napoli 1-7 Fiorentina

Fiorentina travelled to fellow Italian side Napoli with high hopes for a good start to the season, but even in their best dreams didn't imagine scoring seven!
Napoli look a shadow of their former self following a sell off of some older players, and are likely to be one of the relegation favourites.
They are also unmanaged after Walters was poached by Sunderland, and the result was likely to come down to what tactics assistant manager Mr T put out.
Fortunately a 442A played right into the travelling side's hands, and it was one way traffic for most of the match.
With a shot count of 30-9, the away side were good value for the win, even though the 7 goals was a little flattering.
Star players were Berardi with two goals, Araujo with plenty of passes from the back, and Martinez and De Jong with good all round performances.
Even super sub Tymoschuk got in on the act, scoring two late goals with his amazing 11 shooting.

The fans hope to carry on the good vibes with a home match against Monaco on Friday.

            Sporting Lisbon 1 - 0 PSG

After thrashing the hosts 4 times last season, we were expecting more of the same, but the ESMS gods were simply not on our side this round. We matched the home team in terms of shots, and you would expect the best FWs in FFO to score more against a weaker GK, than poor FWs would score against the best GK in FFO. Unfortunately, this was probably that 1 game in 20 that bucked the trend. Wont be the last time this happens this season, but at least we matched the result of the champions, and a few other big teams appeared to struggle.

              Inter Milan 1-2 Bayern Munich

A tough test for my first game in charge of the Bavarian giants. Not many teams will take maximum points from John at home this season. We edged the stats, and can thank a stellar performance from Wharton (2 assists) that led us to a solid away victory. Goals from Gnoto and Lukeba were enough to see us over the line.

All the best John, good game!

                Inter Milan 1 – Bayern Munich 2
Inter welcomed Bayern to the San Siro for the opening game of the season looking to begin the start on a high and eradicate the memories of the end of last season when the absence of goalkeeper and captain Musso saw the season end in double disappointment with a 6th placed league finish lower than hoped for following a defeat in the final match of the season, this was then followed by defeat by Paris St Germain in the EFL Cup final, despite beating them twice in the league.

New signing Jhon Duran started on the bench for Inter, while new Bayern manager Ant Harris included his auction signing Nico Paz from the outset.

Inter got off to the worst possible start as Gnonto put the visitors into the lead with a long range strike that eluded Musso in the Inter goal.

Inter made 2 changes on the hour mark with Duran and Abada replacing Coman and Paqueta behind striker Gnabry and this had an immediate impact, Wharton getting his second assist of the game as he put it on a plate for Lukeba to get a second for Bayern.

This prompted Bayern to close up and try to secure the 3 points but with twenty minutes to go Inter defender Wijndal got his side onto the scoresheet with a curling effort that evaded Verbruggen in the Bayern goal. Unfortunately it proved to be too little too late and Bayern held on to take all 3 points.
Good game Ant, good luck for the rest of the season.

                  Lens 2 - 1 Celtic

Dream start to life in EFL 1 and our quest to avoid relegation. Put in a fantastic performance on their first ever run out in EFL 1. Statistically dominated and Celtic were never a threat. Defensive leader Danso opened the scoring and auction signing Sorloth added the match winning. Celtic pulled one back in the 76th minute but our defense held up and we managed the win.
