    Wolfsburg 3-0 Bilbao

We needed a big performance following the embarrassing defeat at the hands of Windy’s Leipzig, and the EFL cup result where we barely squeezed passed a division 3 side.

A strong performance, particularly from Kepa in goal and Ozoh dominating the midfield allowed us to get back to neutral goal difference and claim the three points. Sam will be gutted his team didn’t put up more of a fight.

    Good game sam

We outshot Rennes, had 60 percent possession and still got thumped. Time for another beer.

        Salzburg 1-4 Rennes

We need to make a swift exit from Austria before we get arrested for theft.
This was a travesty, but we will take it!
Salzburg dominated every available metric apart from the scoreline. Our new youthful midfielders certainly packed their shooting boots, two goals for Hamsik and 1 for Obi-Mikel.
We felt unlucky to lose on the opening day and incredibly lucky to win today, so now we are even.

            SHAKHTAR DONETSK 0-4 Benfica

Well we got battered on the scoreline but we didn't deserve it at all. Sure, we lost to a better team but first half they scored whilst we countered and just didn't take our chances. Once we switched to E thats when Benfica more controlled the tie. They're rocking a 23 forward in this league which is a huge difference for sure compared to most clubs which could be a big difference for them. But, we can't do anything about it, we managed to get some minutes early doors with Sudakov missing but it's just one of those days. The better squad won for sure, and I have a feeling a few clubs will get results like this from Benfica.

              FC Porto 4 – Valencia 1
After the opening day victory in Prague Porto made one, enforced, change for the visit of Spanish side Valencia. Varela moving into a defensive midfield role, Jaime moving into a more central midfield position and Rutter coming into the side as an attacking midfielder.

The soon to be departing Nakamura was embarrassed by Lacazette as Valencia took the lead in the 9th minute putting the ball through the goalkeepers legs. As half time approached Valencia defender Pedersen was shown a second yellow card following a careless challenge which had the effect of opening the game up for Porto to take advantage. A couple of minutes to go until half time Porto got an equaliser through Varela, and then took the lead through Rutter in the second minute of the second half.

Into the last 10 minutes and Porto again scored 2 in 2 minutes, captain Taremi got his second of the season before celebrated his first league start of the season by opening his account to leave the hosts with a deserved victory.

Next up is a trip to Feyenoord, who have started the season well. New goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic is expected to make his debut following a big money move from Dortmund.

Good game Pete, good luck for the rest of the season.

Leipzig Slapped Silly At Phillips Stadium

                PSV 2 Leipzig 0

Red Bull Leipzig had their wings clipped in Eindhoven as PSV put in a masterclass performance to inflict the Germans side first defeat of the season.

Leipzig struggled to win away against a third tier side in the EFL Cup on Wednesday but that paled in to insignificance as PSV controlled the match from beginning to end in an substandard performance.

PSV deservedly took the lead through Mafoumbi in the 12th minute and continued to put their foot on the gas against a lacklustre Leipzig.

PSV created chance after chance and Michel doubled the Dutch sides lead in the 50th minute with the Leipzig sides supporters booing their own players.

PSV can count themselves unlucky to not score more as they created 26 chances of which 15 were on target and had 61% possession with 19 key passes and 11 key tackles with the stats under pinning the brilliance and dominance of their performance.

                Windebank's Post Match Comments

I can only apologies to the supporters today we just could not get going and all credit has to go to PSV for nullifying us to scraps. Having just 39% possession is not good enough and in those scenarios you need to be clinical when you do create chances. We were not as even though we had 6 of the 12 chances we created on goal we could not get the ball in the back of the net.

We need to not dwell on the result or performance and pick ourselves up for the game against Dave Thacker's Red Bulls Salzburg at home on Monday.
