    Club Brugge 1 - 2 Borussia Dortmund

A good performance again although against another random but this time the scoreline was a narrow win, routine game tbh and easy enough matches to ease me back into things but with a few players rating up they will be moved on to reduce both squad size and wage bill as well as freeing up funds for future signings.

Leipzig Scrape Through On Penalties Against Third Tier Opposition

FC Kobenhaven 1 Leipzig 1 - Leipzig win on Penalties

Leipzig are in the hat for the 2nd round draw despite struggling against Kobenhaven of EFL 3.

Things looked rosy when Alvarez score his first goal for the Club from the penalty spot in the 18th minute.

Leipzig created a good few chances but could not grab that all important second goal and Leipzig fans were not surprised when a sucker punch saw Kobenhaven score in the 66th minute through Cornelius to make the score 1-1.

Leipzig huffed and puffed but could not score again but thankfully won 5-4 on penalties to progress to round 2 and get another valuable £2.5m of gate receipts.

These type of games go 2 ways either a dominate win or if your lucky you scrape through rather than getting knocked out.

Thankfully we scraped through and I am well chuffed with that.

We hope for a home draw in the 2nd round and hopefully a little crack at GS super side Borussia Dortmund.

        Dynamo Zagreb 1-3 Rennes

On nights like this it is all about the result and coming to Croatia for a cup tie was not likely to be a simple job.
We performed well and we did enough.
We needed two very late goals but I would say that it flattered them to be level going into those last 5 minutes and the two goals for us were more than deserved.
I was concerned at the start when I saw that Dynamo wanted to play long-ball football, always a chance they could sneak a draw and the lottery of a penalty shootout but we managed to get the better of the key moments especially in the last minutes and we can be very happy to progress to the next round.
