BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Atletico Madrid performance was once again good enough but the team again failed to get the result their efforts deserved. An 8-12 shot count should have been more than enough to get something from the game but the bad luck that has followed the club for the past almost 2 seasons now continues. Atletico pegged back Barca to make it 2-1 after 53 minutes but their attempts at drawing level were hit badly when injury forced a 13-18-5 Stepanenko into an attacking midfield position for 20 minutes.
Not only did the club lose this tight game more bad injury news followed that sees Odegaard missing for 3 games and a booking for Muani means he misses the next game suspended. The teams attacking options for the home game against Monaco are severely depleted.
Marsh commented "We really are cursed it seems. Statistically we have been the third best side in the league and yet we are threatened by finishing outside the top-8 again. We have got through the harder half of fixtures so it is up to us now to try and have a good last 8 games of the season. We could still finish 3rd with a really good run but its going to need 6-7 wins to to get closer to where we should be".
A cagey game between the top two with chances on goal kept to a premium. The home side though did draw first blood just past the half hour mark with the Italian pussies then immediately turning to their customary defensive tactic. On this occasion though the brick wall failed. Rodrygo for The Los Blancos blasted home a levelling goal and just as the game looked to be heading for stalemate Virgil Van Dijk popped up with a deserved winner for Madrid in the closing stages.
A disappointing week for Juventus with back to back defeats. This one was a big one with the top two clashing in Turin.
Everyone knew what our tactics would be but against a team as good as Real Madrid you have to do what you have to do.
We were countered by RM but our set up paid off on 33 minutes when S_Gimenez put us ahead and we tried to see the game out by using D (Hey it had worked twice before vs PSG, why not)
It seemed like we were going to see the game out but 2 goals in the last 15 minutes of the game sunk us as Real Madrid took all 3 points and top spot.
Statistically we were second best and didn’t deserve anything from the game. Good game Ian
Good performance from the lads to make it 4 wins on the bounce in the league.
We decided to switch it up with the flakey E against the expected C and it worked pretty well, and could have been an even bigger victory based on the stats.
There was a goal in each half from the two strikers, who appear to be forming a good partnership up front, both on good form at the moment. De Jong got another booking, putting him on 38DP and sealing his move away from the club. Militao limped off like a wimp, and unsurprisingly will be fit for the next game.
We move up another place, skipping over Napoli into 12th, next in the gun sights are Rangers, can the good form continue?
