BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
It was a battle against the D tactic for the majority of this game and so chances at goal were at a premium but thankfully we looked sharp when those chance were presented. Meanwhile there was a huge win for the League leaders in Turin that makes our job of claiming top spot a little more difficult. Oddly though it was points dropped against lesser teams more recently that has put us behind in the race for the top so we have to believe that anything can still happen.
The second game of a weakened Atletico resulted in another victory. B_Cristante (14) opened the scoring despite the away teams sold looking tactics. A change to counter brought more joy when R_K_Muani (25) doubled the lead. Atletico contolled the game well and protected Dahmen who performed admirably with what he had to do until a late goal brought an anxious end to the end.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "We would have taken a point pre-match so this was a great result. We are up to 07th place and still chasing 3rd place. From here we shouldnt finish any lower than 09th".
The players are going well in a bid to retain as many players as possible for next season. Bronico was the latest to get to his targeted amount in this game.
Pieters needs 62 at an average of 4.91
Tanner 35 at an average of 3.18
Stepanenko 99 at an average of 9.00
Arize has been told he has no future at the club and will leave at the season end. The worst free player in the league has played only 6 minutes all season.
A brilliant win against the best team in the game. Making it a league double over PSG this season.
I think our tactics going into this game were very easy to read, as were PSG’s arrogant tactics which gave us TA but even with that and HA, we weren’t favourites to win the game.
After a back and forth opening where PSG were the better team, ESR gave us the lead shortly before the break. At this point, we shut up shop just like in the away game vs PSG.
The second half seemed to be all PSG but thankfully our goalkeeper had a MOTM performance at the right time as we kept them at bay and went on to claim all 3 points.
Statistically we were second best but as we’ve said in the past, you get games where you deserve to win and don’t and ones that you don’t deserve to win but do.
Good game Ed, looking forwards to your PMR once you’ve stopped sulking
Nice to pick off another club just above us in the league to move up a place.
It started well, with the counter, and a goal from defender Karsdorp, and when Guirassy netted a second early in the second half I started to relax, but no, the drama wasn't over. Monaco switched tactics, and a penalty gave them some hope, and when it went 2-2 after 83 minutes I thought we had blown the win. But fortunately, new defender Spinazzola has a great shot on him, and he scored his first for the club on 87 minutes to take all three points. GG dude
2 wins out of 2 in the league this week, things are looking up!
Still on cloud nine, after their 9-2 mauling of the Imposters, the visitors elected to continue their attacking style. The manager had already accepted that they were no longer in the title race and was just happy to please the home fans to some entertaining football, after having to witness the meanest defence in EFL 1 playing their boring but effective style. The game took some time to get going with very little happening in the first half hour. However, the breakthrough came on the half hour mark, when ex-parisian ESR got the opening goal. Just like they did in the game in France, the Italians pulled everyone back behind the ball and battened down the hatches. Shortly after the break, the Georgian came on in place of Declan Rice, and the visitors formed two banks of five as they searched for an equaliser. It was wave after wave of attack, but the Juventus keeper had a blinder, saving everything that was thrown at him. The home team managed to see out the victory, and achieve a rare double over their opponents. The stats suggest a dominant performance from the visitors, but the hosts won the stat that really matters. As expected, the Juventus goalkeeper was awarded man of the match, and the Italians remained top of the table.
