    MANCHESTER UNITED 0-6 Liverpool

Wow! What a poor poor result and to be honest we got very complacent as the tie went on. It was one of those ties where we didn't get started and once Liverpool went one up, we started trying to probe something but late one we went A with a back 3 and we might as well have played zero at the back. We deserved to lose for sure and this is a big wake up call, and probably a warning sign for the forthcoming cup final.

Maybe cashing in on Phillips when we did may come back to bite us, time will tell, we have enjoyed a long unbeaten run and this is a harsh reality check today. A manager once said it's better to lose 1 game 6-0, than 6 games 1-0. We need a reaction from this quickly but today little issues in how the game panned out.

Sheffield Wednesday 0 West Ham United 0

Wednesday have just forgotten how to win! Despite losing Tierney to a red card in the first half they still outplayed the Hammers but could not find the goal for the elusive win they need. Another draw gives Marsh 5 draws and 2 losses in his 7 games. A 13-8 shot count just shows the club lacks the cutting edge at times to win the games. Tierney is now suspended for 2 games which will at least give more playing time to Danilo and Wendell.

All but 4 players are now being retained next season after an aggressive use of fringe players to clear up the mess inherited.

Danilo needs 174 at 15.81 per game
Wendell needs 95 at 8.64 per game
Hogan needs 336 at 30.55 per game
Mendy needs 28 at 2.54 per game.

        Cardiff City 0 - 1 Newcastle United

After back to back defeats against Arsenal & Manchester City, a trip to Cardiff City was just what we needed to get back on track.

We felt like we could go there and be positive as we opted to play P against Cardiff’s C tactic and we more than matched them in the early stages but we couldn’t find the break through as we heading into half time at 0-0

Into the second half and it wasn’t long before our superiority shone through on the pitch.
Within 10 minutes of the restart we’d taken the lead and switched to a more cautious C tactic while the hosts stuck with their own C tactic rather than taking the game to us.

This led to a dull remainder of the half as we sneaked out the 1-0 victory.

Statistically it was a very even game, with us shading it on possession and shots.

        Good game Matt

          Man Utd 0 Liverpool 6

A remarkable score line away to such a good side but it's only a couple of weeks ago that we were on the end of a 6-0 reversal at Southampton so we know only too well that these crazy outcomes occur from time to time. To be fair we did play very well but as I say the final score is a bit of a joke so we certainly won't be getting carried away just as we didn't when we lost by the same margin.

Very pleased with the performance more than anything and particularly the amount of chances we created. We played a formation we haven't tried this season and we looked solid and then the introduction of Mudryk in the 2nd half when the home side started chasing the game really looked to make a big difference as the goals started to flow at that point.

If we'd have lost I'd have been questioning our title credentials so on the back of this result I have to have confidence that we are right up there on merit. Some big big games coming up for us in all 3 competitions so exciting times for the club. We have to try and push on and take the opportunity to bring some silverware to the club as that is ultimately what it's all about.

Sore one for you Steve but as I say we've been there ourselves recently and I've no doubt you'll bounce back just as quickly.

            Arsenal 4 - 5 Chelsea

Incredible attacking game at the Emirates as Arsenal sped into a 3-1 lead before being turned back over into a 3-5 lead for Chelsea. Arsenal pulled one back to make it 4-5 but Chelsea were still looking for a 6th goal as the tie finished and the Spice Boys earned three points over their London rivals. Chelsea took the decision to rest their striker Berardi for this tie, but still comfortably won the stats on the night. A result which see's them inch up back into the CL spots but also only 7 points behind the leaders in what is a tight Premership. Anyone can beat anyone, and it is showing in the table.

              Arsenal 4 - 5 Chelsea

To score four goals at home and still walk away with nothing is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow but an attacking game by both sides showed they can be lethal in the final third but shaky at the back. With the first derby at their place earlier in the season won by us we fully expected a much different approach by the Blues to see ninc goals scored in a game is madness but it happens.

Pleased to see another double by Timo Werner and another by Ansu Fati who is starting to now get in on the goals after his move some weeks ago but we are still off the pace to where we want to be. Disappointing to lose a big derby game but the stats do show were second best today.
