BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Our heaviest defeat of the season although despite the scoreline this was a close and keenly contested game. Bayern got away quickly with an early goal and we equalised via the penalty spot just past the half hour mark. Both teams continued to create chances but it was the away side that made those chances count. A few dropped points of late and if we want to achieve our goal that will need to change.
A poor result for us today, especially at home vs a Napoli team without top striker S_Mane. We knew we’d face C but opted for P anyway and on the half hour mark we went ahead through F_Wirtz.
We were controlling the game, half time came and went and we were still in the lead but with less than 20 minutes to play Napoli got their goal and we had it all to do again.
Things almost went from bad to worse 2 minutes later as the visitors were awarded a penalty but they failed to score it and the game ended 1-1
Statistically we were by far the better team and should have killed the game off while we had the chance, but we won the Leverkusen game against the stats so we have to swallow this one and move on.
This game was always gonna be hard, especially with 1 fit striker, but lady luck was on our side and we left with a point. We didnt deserve it, but we will take it in our bid for safety. Juventus aren't top for no reason, luckily for them Bayern helped them out but it would make the dropped points for Andy even harder to swallow.
unluky Andy, 9 times out 10 you win this, good luck for the title.
This is more like it, nice solid win at home.
It looked like being a cagey game, but we got an early penalty which led to some tactical changes in our favour.
It looked a reasonably close game on the stats, so ul Mati.
Is Sane the missing link? he scored and got man of the match on his debut, shame we've just sold him!
Kalulu also had a good game at the back, and Guirassy and Casermiro also played well.
6 points clear of the bottom 3 is a good feeling, though we have some tough games coming up.
Unsure whether or not my opponent sheeted. Said it was a random, but JB says a sheet was sent. I suspect Sam knew they were going to get hammered to put in a random so he couldnt be blamed for poor tactics. Blew them away with a 50032A. Unfortunately our game plan backfired. We opened up to try and entice our opponents to take potshots to try and get our GK the 10 abs he needed to level up. However, our opponents had other ideas and only got 4 shots on target. Sadly our keeper was having an off day and conceded 2 of them. We play again in the cup semi, although Barca have a full team available should they decide to send in a proper sheet.
AC Milan featured at the top end of being clinical with chances for and against last season and they have repeated it again this putting them in a commanding position and still with an outside chance at winning the league. Atletico are at the other end of the scale with goals conceded at higher than normal ratios. It was no surprise then when Atletico played AC Milan off the park with a shot count of 10-17 only to fall to a 1-0 defeat. Stegen made an astonishing 12 saves on his way to a clean sheet.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "That was an important game in that we could have got a lot closer to Ac Milan. This result possibly puts them out of touch now. Very very frustrating result given a really good performance".
