Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
A poor day at the office for us against a quality team & manager.
We got the better of Atletico in the first half of the season but knew we were up against it this time, being without A_Davies & being away from home.
We fully expected a C tactic with a packed backline and so we opted for the same set up.
The first goal was going to be huge in this game and after going so long without conceding, we caved on 31 minutes as we fell behind, rightly so as Atletico were by far the better team up to then.
After this, we changed tactics to P and pushed men up the field but for the rest of the half we were still second best, fighting against TA up until half time as we went in a goal down.
Into the second half and we started to come into the game more but with less than 20 minutes to play, our hosts added a 2nd & 3rd goal a minute apart and the game was over.
We added a consolation goal in stoppage time but the game was done and we return home with nothing.
Statistically Atletico were by far the better team and deserved the win, good game Marshy.
As is very often the case we had to play against a tactical advantage but nudged ahead early on only to be pegged back very quickly by the opposition. We was though fairly dominant in the game and after two further goals it ended up a comfortable three points.
Juventus are having a magnificent season with their defence so tight. This however, was an opportunity of pulling back three points on a team above Atletico. Indeed the first goal is always imortant and R_K_Muani (31) grabbed it. This gave the home side opportunity to control matters and M_Odegaard (73), R_Sessegnon (74) made the scoreline 3-0 before Juve pulled a late goal back. A shot count of 19-10 showed this was a good performance and result. It was a good result for the league as several teams are hoping for the top twos form to take a significant dip and indeed AC Milan are now only 7 points off the pace.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Very happy wtith that game. We are a side who have now started to get points that the performances are meriting and to be in 5th place from where we were this season is a great comeback. We will keep fighting and see where the season goes from here".
We expected this to be a tough game, and so it proved. Both teams started with a countering style, and chances were limited for both sides. However, the outcome of the match hinged on a refereeing decision, when the ref was tricked by a blatant dive by Hernandez.
The resulting penalty was tucked away by Griezman, and it left a bitter taste in the mouth for the away supporters, who saw their side battle hard with no reward.
Sanches was the pick of the players for the away side, with several defenders also having a good game.
Coutinho picked up a 3 week injury, though maybe he had picked up on the rumours that he was about to be sold off to the free list, as this proved to be his last game for the club.
