    MANCHESTER UNITED 4-0 Newcastle United

    The scoreline says more like it, and we did the damage early on. But as the tie went on Newcastle grew more into the tie and had more of the latter game. We went 3 up in the first half and at that point both teams played open Styles but Newcastle after that did make more chances and for those that believe stats tell the picture, we would be very fortunate over the tie, but most of the damage was done early doors. It's a bit like Arsenal in the Champions League R1 where it's a flattering scoreline on stats but that doesn't tell the full picture.

    But it was a needed result, a few unlikely scorers to be truthful, but 3 welcome and needed points. We're up there, but nothing to write home about given how many points we've dropped, and goals conceded. We expect a much better second half of the season.

        Burnley 2 - 2 Cardiff City

        Cardiff City showed great resilience in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor. Despite falling behind twice, the Bluebirds, under the guidance of manager Matt Rose, demonstrated their fighting spirit to secure a well-earned point.

        Burnley took the lead early in the second half through G_Guedes, but Cardiff responded with J_Lepenant’s well-taken goal in the 66th minute. However, the hosts regained the advantage when R_Araujo found the net in the 73rd minute. Cardiff didn’t let their heads drop, and substitute D_Zapata levelled the match just two minutes later with a stunning strike.

        Matt Rose praised his team’s character and determination after the match, highlighting the performances of M_Gotze and D_Caleta_Car, who both played pivotal roles. The draw leaves Cardiff City with plenty of positives to build on as they continue their campaign under Rose's leadership.

          West Ham United 0 - 4 Arsenal

          The message from the Arsenal Manager after the win over Watford was that they couldn't afford any slip ups against West Ham United in round nineteen and that message more than filtered through to the players with the Gunners running riot at the London Stadium with a four nil win including a hattrick from Timo Werner who makes it five in two games after Defender Schlotrbeck had put the visitors in front after just twelve minutes. A result in this East v North London derby that Arsenal more than deserved but a big three points that now sees them level at the half way stage with Man Utd in second and Leeds United who still lead the pack.

          The Arsenal boss spoke after the game ;

          " The half way point sees us in a fantastic position in the league after this win. We got it right all over the pitch for a change and going into the last Champions League group game with our place in the knock out stages secured also, it does give us the allowance of maybe resting one or two in order to give minutes to those who are bit short.

          A very important win for us to follow up the Watford victory and to be sat here at the galf way stage neck and neck with some big clubs and the current Premiership Champions is good going ".

            Chelsea 1 - 1 Aston Villa

            Villa are a good team, but I will have to look at this as two points dropped at home.

            Kayode gave us the lead in the first half, but Villa pulled it back into the 2nd half and despite Chelsea having having the best of it we could only manage the draw. After having such a good run until the last 2 games, a dip was bound to happen. Let's see if we can springboard now back into another run as things are so tight at the moment a run of victories could even see us in contention at the top.

              Liverpool 1 Leeds Utd 3

              This is a sore one to take as we looked to have got things right tactically and we played well creating more of the chances but I look at it again and wonder if it's the difference in quality of the GK's that made the difference - Leeds 26 rater to our 24. Whatever it's yet another home game that we've been the better side but still managed to lose. We often create chances but can't stick them away, our goal return really is lousy.

              Credit to Leeds though I expected a counter attacking approach and set up to match it. I know that a good 523P set up can be a handful and so theirs proved to be today so well played Tim.

              For us it feels like we'd been gathering a bit of momentum of late and worked our way into a good position in the table but a difficult game against genuine title challengers showed again that we're still not really good enough to be considered serious contenders ourselves.
