Another poor result at home.
but when luck is against you there isnt a lot you can do about it.We conceded first and our opponents then had tactical advantage for most of the game
We conceded from the first RM action, although we had TA
A swift equaliser got disallowed
After we did equalise, positional changes happened but the switch back to C never happened for some reason
We conceded 2 goals from deflections. the chance of a shot being deflected into goal is low, for it to happen twice is just bad luck (all our deflections went wide)
we won the chance count 24-22 but our opponents were more fortunate with the tackle %
It clearly isnt going to be our season in the league.
Well played and congrats on the win Ian
With Feyenoord brass breathing down Bucks neck, the 4-0 loss to Juventus this afternoon at De Kuip hasn't made it any easier for the gaffer. Bucks response to the media concerning the club's slump was unusually abrupt, “what did everyone expect, a victory against a 3rd place club? Regarding the losing streak? I do not know, there are a few matches I'd like to replay”. He further stated “regarding my status with the club owners, I'd be lying if I said everything was hunky dory”. Followed by “No further comment”. The second half of DBC round robin play this upcoming Wednesday.
While the PSG gaffer continues to fight against the mathematics, navigate the spreadsheets and seemingly get lost, we just concentrate on scoring goals. We started with tactical advantage against so was perhaps a tad fortunate to take the early lead. The plan then was to switch to a tactic that the opposition wouldn't particularly expect and although they levelled the proceedings later in the first half that plan worked on the day. The game wasn't the most exciting of encounters but we just about shaded the stats so this was by no means a fortunate three points as looks to have been suggested by the opposition database.
Manager Simon Marsh commenced by stating "Apologies for missing some PMRs of late. Life just has not been easy in 2024 for me on a personal level and I have dropped off in recent weeks as I am drained. I dont want to go into too many details but I am similar issues to what Drum appears to be going through. I hope things have improved for him recently. Things here have come to an head but hopefully we can get through things. Its a case of taking life hour by hour but there is no break from it. Just relentless and draining".
Back to the football field and Atletico's inconsistent start to the season has certainly continued. This game was an attempt at back-to-back wins that could take the club back to the fringe of the top-8. Marsh spiced things up with the european formation which gave the home side tactical advantage although didnt appear to give them too much on-field domination as both sides had chances. The opening goal was always key and when Havertz got it, Atletico adjusted and took hold of the game adding a second. In true style they conceded a late goal to make things interesting but they held on for a big three points".
Marsh commented "A relief to get another win and climb to 09th in the table. We have given ourselves a handicap again but a couple more wins and the table would look pretty healthy. Top4 has to remain the target".
Frustrating to come up against a team playing a 7 man defence with a D tactic, I first thought I was getting special treatment from the Feyenoord gaffer but he played the same tactics Vs Sevilla in the previous round. Onto our set up and I felt like throwing caution to the wind after 2 straight defeats and we went all out attack, which gave us TA to start with.
It took us a while to get going but Joao_Felix gave us the lead on 33 minutes and we went in at half time a goal to the good but far from satisfied.
Into the second half and within 4 minutes of the restart we'd doubled our lead and proceeded to add a 3rd on 55 minutes before F_Wirtz wrapped up the scoring and the 3 points just past the hour mark.
We ran out 4-0 winners and statistically it could and maybe should have been more. Good game Travis.
A well deserved win for the home side, who came well prepared for the cautious Fiorentina. gg Simon
Si was generous in his comments, but this was quite a one sided game and a poor one for the purples.
We had quite a few new faces, and did well on the tackling side, but didn't create a great deal.
Those league wins are proving very hard to come by, and we are slipping down the table into the inevitable relegation fight.
Positives - Pino scored on his debut, good games for Botman and Cresswell on theirs too.
Downsides - Poor performance overall, and created little.
