BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Bobby Firmino made his debut for the Blues after his big swap deal move from Roma a couple of days ago, but it was his strike partner Saint Maximum who stole the plaudits by scoring his 10th goal of the season in the 7th minute, which was followed up by a 16th minute goal from defender Wan Bissaka. We didn't add any more goals though, and our clean sheet was spoiled in the 90th minute when Henderson gave away a penalty which the Foxes tucked away. Truth be told, maybe Henderson was lucky to only see a yellow card and not a red one there, but we've already had our fair share of GK bad luck so I'm happy to fade that one. Up into 9th position now and ready to position ourselves into the CL slipstream.
We have to look at ourselves here, we raced to a 3 goal lead in the first half and very comfortable but second half the tables turned, probably the best case of a game of two halves, despite both teams being pretty equal in both across the game. We have a shock defence at times this season, when we concede we concede badly and even the back 5 set up wasn't enough, maybe taking off Phillips for Saka and losing that bit more tackling was the final nail? Who knows, but it's a decent point on paper against the team who've started the season in great form, but we should've seen this one out and had 3 points today.
Going into this one on the back of two straight defeats made this a must win game even at this stage of the season as we have lost enough points and ground as it and cant afford to keep doing that. Even with Evertons league position, we knew this would be a tough game as David has ground out some good results against some good sides and this was a lost closer than Id have liked it to have been. The stats were in our favour but the stats don't win games as we've found out far to often this season and with both strikers getting a goal a piece, it was the result we badly needed.
A double from Mahrez gets us a terrific win away to Nick's winning machine. We set up in a counter attacking style but with 4 players in advanced roles and scored early on. We then added a 2nd just before HT and despite plenty pressure from the home side we managed to hold out. City will feel hard done by based on the stats and I can certainly relate to that.
Things have improved for us of late and our league position is looking a lot healthier. Still feels really early in the season and we're still learning the best way to utilise the players we've brought in but there are signs that it's starting to come together.
Unlucky Nick. You know how high a regard I hold you in. Unquestionably the GOAT.
Cardiff City manager Matt Rose hailed his team's emphatic 3-0 victory over Barnsley at the Cardiff City Stadium. The home side took the lead in the 17th minute when M_Gotze capitalised on a rebound from his own free-kick, putting Cardiff ahead. Despite numerous fouls from Barnsley, Cardiff maintained their composure and extended their lead in the 65th minute with a clinical finish from substitute J_Brekalo.
The match saw K_Mitoma of Barnsley sent off in the 70th minute after receiving his second yellow card, giving Cardiff a numerical advantage. Cardiff sealed their victory with a spectacular overhead kick from D_Zapata in the 84th minute. Rose praised his team's discipline and adaptability, especially after the tactical changes that bolstered their midfield and attack.
The win puts Cardiff in a strong position early in the season, with standout performances from D_Zapata, who was named Man of the Match, and M_Politano, who consistently troubled the Barnsley defence.
Barnsley boss rues the worst performance of the season. "Luck didn't go our way, we countered them for 50 minutes, had essentially the same amount of shots, and they failed to tactically counter us at all but the difference was the keeping. Maximiano had a shocker, and we will re-evaluate the performance and move on. Our start has been spectacular, but we know it cannot last. It is a shame to lose to a relegation favourite, who have been playing exceptionally well this season". Harris claimed.
