Back down to earth with a bump here but to be fair looking at the match stats the scoreline was probably a bit flattering for Leeds who had 6 shots on target to our 5 but their extra quality worked for their conversion rate. Good game Tim cheers
Back from a week away (cheers to Gaz for sheeting) but we picked up where I left off with another limp display. It looked for a long time like it was going to finish goalless but 2 goals in the last 3 minutes gave Chelsea the win and looking at the stats we can't have any complaints.
It's been a poor start and safe to say we're still searching for the right formula.
Another game where we deserved more than we got, which is becoming far too much of a running comment these early stages. We had the better chances and once again couldn't score. We had to come from behind too, Barnsley had a game plan to settle for a draw and try to nick a 1-0. The classic goal up shut up shop frustrated us at times and we struggled to capitalise on their defence approach.
It's still early days and as players rate up we'll no doubt improve but slow starters is certainly the best assessment of the first 6 games.
A far cry from the El Clásico and my legendary back and forth with one of the better managers in the game in Edwards. But a different setting for the heads up contest makes for a fresh coat of paint on the rivarly. Edwards was just back from holiday and might have been a little rusty as we managed to control the game without much output for our dominance, however two late goals from ASM secured three points which puts us back up into the Champions League spots. Our main keeper was back for this one and it showed as we was much more comfortable. Hopefully we can put a bit of a run together now. Until next time Graeme.
A double by the in form Yaser Asprilla helped secure a win on the road for Arsenal to keep the run going for the Gunners. Reece James scored the opener before Asprilla got his sixth and seventh goals of the season to move Arsenal up to second place in the table. At two nil up at half time, it was Arsenals game to lose and a second half that saw Newcastle score two, the Gunners managed to get the all important goal and pull a massive three points for the club.
The Arsenal boss spoke after the game ;
" A fixture that over the seasons has been very hit and miss for us. They beat us in the cup semi final a couple of seasons ago and in the league they have had results against us. We deserved the win today but it shouldn't have been as close as it was to be honest, we dominated the game but as we know, you can never write Newcastle off and on another day it could easily have gone the other way but the main thing was the result which we got via a very solid performance against a good side ".
Cardiff City triumphed over Aston Villa in a thrilling 3-2 victory at the Cardiff City Stadium. Manager Matt Rose's tactical acumen shone through as his side took an early lead with T_Lemar's superb goal in the 2nd minute. Despite an equaliser from Raphinha, Cardiff quickly responded with another strike from Lemar, putting them ahead once more.
Aston Villa fought back to level the score again through L_Martinez, but Cardiff's resilience was evident. M_Harris clinched the winner in the 67th minute, sealing the victory for the Bluebirds. Manager Matt Rose praised his team's determination and focus, highlighting Lemar’s exceptional performance as pivotal to their success.
"Today, the boys showed incredible spirit and discipline," Rose stated post-match. "Lemar was outstanding, and the team's commitment was second to none. This win is a testament to their hard work and belief."
