BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
A ten goal thriller at the Toon, as the West London spice boys once again show they are the most exciting team in the Premiership. Chelsea looked to seal 4-5 win but with seemingly the last kick of the game the geordies equailised to scupper our hopes for our first three points of the season.
2 draws to start the new season is perhaps under par for where we want to be, but on the other hand we are still undefeated. GG Chris.
Off the mark for the season but it wasn't a blockbuster with two teams playing similar styles. We edged the game but like I say, not much to write home about and we need to give better displays as the season goes on as we're starting very slowly. Gavi gets his debut goal which is pleasing but it's about points and so we'll take them and move on,
It wasn't pretty, but it will do. 3 points is the most important thing for our season and I don't care how we get them. Our winning goal came from an unlikely source but we're going to need those slices of luck as the season goes on. Another clean sheet is pleasing but we're gonna have to be tighter at the back than we were as conceding 15 shots to a better side will see us on the end of a hockey score.
Fantastic result against an extremely good side. There’s no doubt we are a little fortunate and Daz will be spitting feathers looking at the stats. I’m sure we’ll be on the reverse end as the season progresses, that’s ffo, that’s football.
I think we were rewarded for our bravery and it paid off. We went 1 down and then instantly switched it up and went for it. Early leaders so far but they never used to show the table for about ten games so it’s pretty irrelevant Just got to keep this winning thing going.
played Dazler, unlucky lad.
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
Pleased to get our first league win especially at such a difficult venue. We mixed things up tactically and formation wise and came flying out of the traps to build a quick 2-0 lead through Mahrez and Rashford. We then changed to a passing style and Villa scored early in the 2nd half to get themselves right back into the game. It made for a nervy read late on but I think we were worth the win.
Huge blow to lose one of our starting defenders to a 3 game injury but we have a bit of depth so it gives a chance for someone else to step up.
After last week's goal fest this was fairly tame in comparison.
It certainly wasn't a boring nil nil draw though with both teams attempting to win the game.
We had the better of the opening exchanges before Watford had a good 15 minute spell but both teams were thwarted by decent defending,
The first half eneded with both teams taking it in turns to attack but couldn't find the breakthrough.
The second half continued as the first had left off. Both teams trying to get forward and win the game but a combination of poor finishing and good defending meant that the game ended in stalemate.
Cardiff City manager Matt Rose masterminded a dominant 5-1 victory over West Ham, showcasing tactical brilliance and clinical finishing at the Cardiff City Stadium.
From the outset, Cardiff took control. In the 16th minute, I_Gueye opened the scoring with a crisp volley, sending the home fans into raptures. Just three minutes later, T_Lockyer doubled the lead with a low drive that floated past West Ham's N_Pope, making it 2-0. Lockyer's performance was nothing short of sensational, earning him the Man of the Match award.
Despite a goal from West Ham’s C_Palmer in the 29th minute, Cardiff maintained their momentum. T_Lemar restored the two-goal cushion, capitalising on a precise chip from D_Zapata. The second half saw Cardiff continue their dominance. Lockyer completed his hat-trick with two more goals in the 68th and 73rd minutes, cementing Cardiff's commanding lead.
Rose's tactical adjustments were pivotal. The introduction of substitutes D_Caleta_Car and J_Brekalo maintained Cardiff's high intensity and defensive solidity. Rose’s ability to adapt and make effective tactical changes kept West Ham at bay.
Reflecting on the win, Rose praised his team's effort and execution, highlighting Lockyer's exceptional performance. "We played with passion, precision, and poise. This victory is a testament to the hard work of every player," Rose remarked. Cardiff's comprehensive victory over West Ham has undoubtedly set a high benchmark for the season ahead.
After a couple of good results in the league and cup, Arsenal tasted defeat for the first time this season with a crushing 4-1 defeat at The Emirates at the hands of Leeds United which actually saw Arsenal lead at half time through Khephren Thuram but a a second half in which the home side just switched off saw the visitors come back to get the result. The stats do suggest a more even game than a big defeat like this but Leeds took no mercy and were lethal in front of goal much to the frustration of the Arsenal boss who spoke after the final whistle ;
" Leeds are a top side who we know only to well from their success in the league and fair play to them today for coming back the way they did but we feel we deserved something from it but its the way the cookie bounces at times and although we played just as well, their class up front was the difference and when you lose your main front man just before half time its always going to be an uphill struggle but none the less, we have other players who should be stepping up. The main thing that frustrates me is how we just fell apart late in the game to concede three goals in four minutes but that is the game we play and the way it goes sometimes. We just look to the next and hope to turn this result round ".
