BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
In a repeat of the cup game, we played Atalanta in the league and picked up our first 3 points. Felt a very comfortable win despite two players missing and could have and should have had more goals.
Good game Gary, look forward to playing you again in the reverse league fixture.
This is a huge win, a side who smashed 5 goals in round 1 and knocked Bayern out the cup midweek, we knew it'd be a huge test. We again play a team with a gulf in class to us and we stood the test. We didn't make much in the way of chances, just the two, but that's all we needed and that's all we're bothered about. Admittedly you can say there was an element of luck but once we got Infront out captain put a solid display in and made sure we kept them out. Very happy with proceedings today, off the mark, lets keep it going.
After the debacle of our cup loss, Salzburg just looked flat. The tactics looked bad, and we did not get many shots on goal. The defense was solid, only allowing one goals, but if you aren't going to score that's all your opponent needs. Lesson learned, on to the next round
A disappointing result and performance overall from us here, we have started the season sluggish and seemingly still hungover from the playoff final defeat.
Not panic here though in Bergamo as we have faith in the players that did us proud last season.
Well played Jason, and good luck for the season ahead.
Porto scored in the first minute which put us in a difficult spot, having to attack much more than we would have liked. Managed to get even by halftime due to a deflection. It didn't last long as Porto just had too much for us. A PK in the 87th minute helped the score line look a little closer than it was. Playing from behind is not our strength at this point in the project. Good game Dan.
