SHAKHTAR DONETSK 2-4 Union Berlin

Just a game where the better quality players in the right areas played pivotal for Berlin as I could easily argue we deserved a draw on the balance of play. But, that's irrelevant and maybe we got too adventurous on round 1 as we got countered throughout. But, we know we had a lacklustre off season, not that there was much we could've changed or done differently. It'll be another long campaign for us, we'll just make the most with what we have, we go again is all we can say!

RB Salzburg 1-1 Frankfurt

Slightly embarrassing that I thought I was playing Leipzig… anyway. We certainly rode our luck in this game as Salzburg had the better of the chances, but we managed to get an equaliser and cling onto the point. Going to be a long season, but worthwhile to get the academy motoring and feeding into the starting 11

Lens 0 - 0 Marseille

Difficult first fixture against a strong opponent. Lens hung in there with 65% possession and 8 shots on goal. 17 year old debutante Bachman was MOM. Pleased with the point, I had this one penciled in as a loss.

RB_Salzburg 1 - Frankfurt 1
We came out much stronger than I thought we would and sent a lot of balls towards Frankfurt. But they frustrated us until the 66th minute, when we finally scored. Frankfurt quickly and wisely changed tactics and Fullkrug just made Atubolu just looked silly. I'm happy with the point and it was good match. Well done Jason!

Ajax 3-3 Stade Rennais

An entertaining start to the season. Twice we battled back from 2-0 and then again from 3-1 down to take a draw with an 85th minute equaliser.
Stats were very level so I guess both sides can be happy but we can be slightly happier with an away point and showing the character to come back from two goals down.
