      Fulham 1-2 Brum

Excellent result on the road to open the campaign. Travelling down to London to face Fulham was always going to be a tough game. We were under the cosh for large periods of the match but our counter-attacking setup worked a treat. The new striking duo of Calum Marshall and Dane Scarlett got a goal each and despite the Cottagers getting a goal back, we were able to hold on.
This season is all about making an improvement on last time round and this was a promising beginning.
      Played Joe, good game.

        Sunderland 1 - 5 Bournemouth

A solid debut win for myself after going a goal down early on, we got back into it and overall i was pleased with the performance to come away from the North East with 3 points is excellent.

          Luton 2-1 Ipswich

Great way to start the season. I suspect points are going to be hard to come by this season so 3 on the first day is a bonus.
We are one of the weaker sides, so set up cautiously, as did Ipswich.
Fortunately we shaded the shot count and our dodgy keeper did enough to keep the score down.
Nakamba scored and got man of the match, with Mavididi getting the other.
Away to Bristol City next, which is going to be tough
We do have a few quid to spend, and a few players nearing uprates, so there are some other positives

Nottingham Forest Earn Hard-Fought Draw at Molineux in Season Opener

Nottingham Forest kicked off their Championship campaign with a gritty 0-0 draw against newly-relegated Wolves at Molineux on Monday evening. In a match marked by robust challenges and missed chances, both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Forest, who started well and then disappeared last season, showed promising signs of improvement. The visitors started brightly, with Danilo's mazy dribble in the 2nd minute nearly resulting in an early opener. Wolves goalkeeper A_Ramsdale was called into action several times, making crucial saves to deny M_Gibbs_White and O_Edouard.

Wolves, eager to impress on their return to the Championship, struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. N_Tella's yellow card in the 4th minute set the tone for a physical encounter. The hosts' best chance fell to G_Veron in the 19th minute, but his header flew just over the bar.

The second half saw Wolves reduced to ten men when N_Tella received his second yellow card for a deliberate foul on M_Gibbs_White in the 55th minute. Despite their numerical advantage, Forest couldn't capitalise, with G_Montiel and O_Edouard both spurning gilt-edged opportunities.

Wolves rallied in the closing stages, with substitute A_Marmoush injecting pace and creativity. However, Forest's defense, marshaled by the impressive G_Montiel, held firm to secure a valuable point on the road.

            Player Ratings:

            Wolves:
A_Ramsdale (GK) - 7: Made several excellent saves.
P_Struijk (DF) - 7: Used his pace well to contain Forest's attacking threat.
R_Oxford (DF) - 8: Man of the Match performance. Made crucial tackles and interceptions.
            Emerson_Royal (DF) - 6: Struggled at times against M_Gibbs_White.
            T_Mitchell (DF) - 6: Replaced by L_Bade after 71 minutes. Steady performance.
J_Moder (DM) - 7: Screened the back four effectively and used the ball well.
N_Tella (MF) - 2: Sent off after receiving two yellow cards. A day to forget.
C_Traore (MF) - 6: Showed flashes of skill before being replaced by J_Sterner.
            M_Cunha (MF) - 6: Worked hard but couldn't quite unlock Forest's defense.
            N_Jackson (FW) - 6: Replaced by A_Marmoush after 82 minutes. Had a couple of half-chances.
G_Veron (FW) - 7: Wolves' most threatening attacker. Went close with a header.

            Nottingham Forest:
G_Kobel (GK) - 7: Made several routine saves and commanded his area well.
G_Montiel (DF) - 8: Solid defensively and nearly scored with a powerful shot.
S_Aurier (DF) - 6: Booked for a late challenge on A_Marmoush. Solid otherwise.
N_Williams (DF) - 7: Dealt well with Wolves' attacking threat down the right.
            J_Worrall (DF) - 6: Replaced by C_Hudson_Odoi after 73 minutes. Steady performance.
            H_Toffolo (DF) - 5: Booked for a holding foul on N_Jackson.
E_Kujovic (DM) - 6: Tidy in possession before being replaced by B_Aguilera.
Danilo (DM) - 7: Broke up play effectively and nearly created an early goal.
N_Dominguez (MF) - 7: Worked hard in midfield and made a vital interception.
M_Gibbs_White (AM) - 7: Lively performance. Twice denied by A_Ramsdale.
O_Edouard (FW) - 5: Missed a great chance in the 48th minute. Otherwise led the line fairly competently.

            Post-Match Reaction:

"I'm proud of the lads. Coming to Molineux on the opening day is never easy, but we showed great character and defensive solidity to come away with a hard-earned point."

"We knew Wolves would come at us hard, especially in the first half. But we weathered the storm and had a couple of decent chances ourselves. I thought we grew into the game as it went on, and even after they went down to ten men, we kept our shape and didn't let them create too many clear-cut opportunities."

"Of course, there's still plenty to work on. We definitely could have been a bit more clinical in the final third, especially when they went a man down, and we'll need to improve our ball retention if we want to control games at this level. But overall, I'm delighted with the effort and application the boys showed today."

"It's only the first game of a long season, but this is definitely something we can build on. We'll take the positives, learn from the areas we need to improve, and get ready for a tough home cup game against Man City in midweek."

"Good game Ray, good luck for the rest of the season."

              Brighton 2 Millwall 0

A very disappointing performance and result against a quality side. Don’t think Steve O could have done anymore and I expect to see him get a much better performance on Friday.

Thanks Steve O that was a very tough game to stand in for me mate.
