Atalanta 0 - 2 Feyenoord
The feel good story of the season, fifth seed Feyenoord who went on a win-less streak at the end of the season and were counted out by most pundits do an about-face and impress many with their post season playoff performance. The underdogs went on to beat 4th seed Frankfurt in a home and away preliminary series, they then handed 3rd seed Atalanta a 2-0 loss in the final playoff match for the rite to promote. Feyenoord will be joining the top two seeds Fiorentina and Seville in the EFL1. In the spirit of the moment a flabbergasted Buck blurted out, “I finally done did good”. -

Despite defeat in the playoff final, we can be very happy with how our season has gone as at the start of the season, if anyone had said we would of been 90 minutes within EFL1, we would have bit your hands off. We were delighted to get through the two legged semi final as we had both Scalvini and Djimsiti suspended for both games, the latter missing the final too, which was a big blow for us as they have been outstanding performers for us this season.
The final was an evenly contested game, however our Dutch counterparts were more clinical on the day and probably just about deserved to win the game. We will regroup in the summer break and go again next season, though it will be a tougher ask next time around we imagine. We congratulate Feyenoord and wish them well next season.Comment
