They went down a man no sooner than the game kicked off, we took advantage and lead after 5 minutes. Valverde, only just back from a ban, saw red on 11 minutes to make it 10v10 men. We managed to get a second goal just after half time in what then felt a bit of s subdued game in the second half, but Spurs scored 10 minutes from time to make it a nervy ending.
We got what we came for in result, but Valverde now misses 3 games, its a good job we've gambled on the high depth since the auction to help the run in or we might be a bit on edge. But the game turned out with Spurs having more of the game, as the tie went on they threw everything at us, whilst we ended up pretty open with our close out formation.
We did our bit, but the goal difference is too big I would say to claw back so we have to just win every game to stand any chance of nicking the title, so we just keep going! It's all we can do.
This was a game in which we should have performed better than what we did. Liverpool got off to a good start scoring two goals inside the first 15 minutes and although we got one back before the end of the first period it was always the home side that had the edge in what was a fairly close game.
A trip to Ewood Park was next up for Arsenal with The Gunners looking to try and finish the season as high as possible and get some breathing space between the teams below them but a return back to North London with a point following a nil nil draw was the and result.
In truth, the result was about as fair as it could be with neither side really worthy of the win, it coming down to poor finishing and good games by each sides defence but a point away from home can be looked at as a decent result none the less.
The Arsenal boss gave his view on the game after the final whistle ;
" Given the number of goals we have score this season and chances we have created I did expect more from our attacking plyers but Rovers really mad it hard for us to get into our way of play and kept us out as we did at the other end which really made for an average game and a point each. With West Ham dropping points it was an ideal chance to gain a bit of space but it wasnt to be this round ".
