    SHAKHTAR DONETSK 2-0 Valencia

A close game and it was down to us taking chances. Another day, we don't get what we did today but after a barren run, we manage to get a win and end up back in the top half against a very capable side. We're almost done with minutes, so almost mission complete there. Just a case of finishing an excellent campaign so far.

I've enjoyed the season with Shakhtar, I've loved the challenge even with some of the caretaker boundaries, and to even be fluttering midtable it's fantastic for this club. We're getting to the home straight and to be honest it's been an excellent season.

Yes Steve, you've kept Shaktar in fighting form.

RB Salzburg 1 -0 Lyon On paper I'd didn't expect this to be such a close match. Once again Abutolu gets the clean sheet and the defense was strong. I'm a bit disappointed at the forwards, but we did have a few squaddies in and that may be blunted the atttack. Next round is Fiorentina, and that will be a stiff challenge.

      Villarreal 2-6 Fiorentina

Fantastic score line for the purple ones, though a very flattering result!
We started with the same team that did well in Europe, and it looked like it might be a C v C nil nil stalemate, but no Villa got the very early goal, and we switched up our tactics, and the floodgates opened.
To score six from only eleven shots on target is very pleasing considering a few have gone against us this season, but Villa must be feeling very hard done by, as it looked like they slightly shaded the game.
The clinical finishing of Nunez and Jovic made the difference, and it will be interesting to see how we do without 22 goal Jovic next week, as he is off to Benfica.
All of the defence put in good performances for the backbone of the win, but it was Nunez with the man of the match.

Positives - The big win, good abs, another squaddie met his minutes, and got closer to Sevilla at the top
Downsides - Letting in two goals, Jovic playing well before his sale!

        Feyenoord 5 - 0 Lens

No doubt that the 45K+ in attendance at De Kuip this Friday afternoon were witness to 90 minutes of thoroughly enjoyable football. The good will however started prior to the match with the first 25K receiving an autographed football.

As well as helping the club to victory, MoM O_Idrissi’s two goals the first in the 39th and second shortly after in the 43rd have launched the striker into second spot in the EFL2 scoring race with 20, 2 goals shy of Fiorentina’s L_Jovic. His performance also earned him a MoM bringing his total to 5, one behind Sparta Prague’s E_Ponce.

Midfielders E_Gutierrez and Melendo added to the scoreline with one apiece in the 8th and 31st minutes. Lens’ Y_Fofana was credited with an own goal in the 19th.

Some good news for forward P_Goncalves, his steady performance up til know have earned him third spot with 136 shots at net, let’s hope he continues the trend.

The EFL2 league table is starting to take shape with 7 points separating the top 5 clubs. Feyenoord and Valencia are in a battle for 4th spot, with only 3 points separating them from 3rd place Atalanta. With a quarter of the matches remaining fans are gearing up for what should be an exciting finish.

Feyenoord’s next match is Monday at Estadio da Luz with Benfica.

I am stunned by the outcome of this match. Although we put in enough effort to secure a draw, we lost by four goals, which is quite perplexing. There's not much else to say except that it was a poor performance. As the game has shown, if you fail to capitalise on your chances, it will come back to haunt you. We must move on to the next game.
