With the misfortune of having had two injury time goals scored on him in his previous two encounters; one in the 94th against PSV and the other in the 93rd against Shakatar Donesk. Feyenoord keeper A_Muric would have to wait until today's venue at the Mestalla against Valencia for his well deserved shutout. From a keepers perspective both A_Muric and A_Valles played a perfect match, blocking every shot that reached goal, seven by the hosts and six from the visitors. In the overall roundup Valencia did dominate ball possession as opposed to the tub boys edging in key tackles, in what was to be a closely contested scoreless draw.
Buck did however vocalize his disappointment at some of the calls made by the referee considering them to be “questionable at best” further stating that “the referee was way too lenient. Luckily there were no serious injuries”. Pundits believe that the managers beef was directed at four harsh challenges made by Los Ches, meriting more severe disciplinary action.
A look at the EFL2 table has a close 14 point gap between 1st spot and 6th. With only 11 matches remaining this has the making of an unforgettable finish. Good luck to all...
Down 2 - 0 after only 10 minutes, RBS had a lot of work to do. Sparta's Haraslin had just charged right by Atubolu and a mere five minutes later Sorenson put a header into the net. But that was it. Sparta was locked down by the Salzburg defenders. Pavlovic was knocked over in the area, which allowed Koita to bury a penalty shot. A ray of hope for RBS. The second half was mostly Salzburg, Koita put in a free kick in the 54th minute and then RBS smothered the Sparta's offense the rest of the way. McGregor and Terzic had good shots, but could not get past Brignoli to get the winner.
Salzburg Manager Thacker still had a smile at the end. Salzburg was not expected to make a good showing at this match. This was the Red Bulls second draw against the top of the table, and it's only a matter of time before they steal 3 points from the leaders.
Next up is Lyon, and the win is critical for Salzburg to say with the pack.
Not a bad game for a neutral and just shame we started too slowly in this one. Our performance would be described on the whole as reactive, as we found ourselves 3 down in the first quarter of the game. But we started to pull our fingers out and gave it go and made a tie there after but overall it would be wrong to say we deserved much from this one. Although our performance over 90 minutes wasn't terrible, PSV did deserve it for sure. We'll move on. It's not a result we wanted.
Thankfully, we have just 1 player needing 13 minutes and one 316 which should be achieved over the next few games, especially once Buendia goes back from his loan, but it'll be nice to get to a point where we can just pick a team and not worry about minutes.
Well, that sucked. We tried opening up a bit and changing formation, to create more chances, and to an extent it worked, as we led on chances and possession. However, their 24 rated keeper played a blinder, and despite our firepower we couldn't find a way past him. The second half sucker punch was a harsh one, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Not too many positives other than Ekitike got amongst the chances, and we didn't get any injuries of suspensions before our midweek cup semi. We will need to play a lot better than this though against West Ham.
