BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
A last minute turn around has bumped us up to 4th in the league, but that felt unlikely when Monaco went one up in the 74th minute. A switch to A and a second goal in the 90th minute.
Not the most eventful game but we dominated possession and chances, with a difficult job getting shots on target.
We battered Sociedad, completely dominated and yet lose 3-2. Their 23 rated GK made 15 saves against our higher rated strikers and our 24 GK ships goals easily against far fewer shots to their average attack.
I've played the game long enough to know these games happen as I've had plenty for and against me over the years but it's the final nail in the coffin for me I'm afraid. Angry at myself for not walking at the end of last season to be honest but I've always felt a loyalty to JB and the work he puts in. The enjoyment and motivation have long since gone though unfortunately, even when we were winning things last season there just felt no sense of joy from it. I had decided a few weeks ago I would walk end of season as I'm just going through the motions but I'm as well going now and giving the new manager the chance to get their feet under the table and start planning ahead etc
In the most part it's been a pleasure playing the game and getting to know some of the other managers. The first few years on here were absolutely brilliant but the game has changed and it's fair to say there are a few things and managers that irritate me. Anyway, Barca are a terrific club who have always won trophies and they deserve someone who will give it their all - sadly I am no longer the man for the job.
A big game for us against a strong Bayern team despite their rebuild. They beat us comfortably in the reverse fixture and after recent results, we needed to win this one but weren't confident going in.
We set up with a very cautious C tactic and Bayern did the same which would make for a tight game and that is exactly what the first half offered with us being the better team without being able to make any real impact on the game as we went in at the break 0-0.
Into the second half and Bayern started to get into the game which was worrying but on 67 minutes, J_Timber put us ahead in one of his rare starts for us this season.
We switched to P and Bayern stuck with their C thus giving them TA but just 5 minutes later we'd doubled our lead through S_Gimenez and never looked back.
3 huge points considering teams around us dropped points and statistically we were the better team, limiting Munich to just 1 shot on target.
Heard for weeks from plenty of managers that this Red Bull team are garbage. Atletico therefore chose to go with 4 defenders in an attempt to create avalanche of chances. However, the tactics or on-day performance was absolutely piss-poor. This was the worst performance of the season with an end shot count of 13-22. No other side has out played Atletico in this fashion this season. Vincius did manage to open the scoring which brought both sides into an attacking game. However, it was all Red Bull and they would have won the game easily with better shooters in their side.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "That was dreadful and hits us hard in the league. We go to Roma next and could be a long way behind the teams we need to try and catch by the end of that one. In fact we could well be back out of the top-8. Maybe, 4 defenders is just unplayable in FFO?".
Marsh added "We have a real discipline issue at the club. The players are instructed to go out with well below the aggression that other sides utilise yet I think that is now 4 red cards and whole lot more of yellows. I spoke after the last game that suspension issues had eased and here we are again with another player out this time for 2 weeks and we are back to 2 players on the yellow card tight-rope".
Vinicius_Jr 24 bra 1 2 17 23 22 1 82 622 3 improved his shooting to 23-rated. Agonisingly Paqueta was 1abs short of improving his passing and Muani 2abs short of improving his shooting - some might say that is less wages they need!!
The other positive was the increase to 22/25 players having met their retained minutes now.
Delighted to record my first win as Inter boss and the impending arrival of Gravenberch will definitely help in the run-in to the end of the season with a Champions League spot on the line (are we allowed to qualify for CL???)
Goals for Di Lorenzo and Kimmich saw us on the way before a penalty from Gnabry saw us into a 3-0 lead which we were able to hold on to and move back up to 7th in the table.
Despite the happiness of recording my first win at Inter - it is tinged massively with the news coming out of Barcelona. Livi is one of the all-time FFO greats and hopefully a period away gives him the mojo to come back and take over the world!
"Losing our keeper inside 7 minutes meant we were in for a drumming, no pun intended, we were poor and didn't deserve anything from the game, we just have to move on from this one and go again, im not willing to address the rumours of me becoming the next Barcelona manager, this is not the time for that"
Sterling and Rodrygo was on the bench for this one, a game we should have won on paper and on the night. An 89th minute equiliser from Napoli meant it was too late for Madrid to stage a comeback, despite an obvious last minute penalty shout from sub Rodrygo being denied and outright ignored by the perhaps, mafia bribed Naples home ref.
