Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
This game was a big concern, John is a great manager and will turn into back into a good team following some poor seasons under the management of GS and a guaranteed 6 points a season.
Lose this game and the champions league spots start closing in, win and extend the lead. Luckily we won 1-0, but only the luck of a penalty separating the two teams.
Good game Johnboy and unlucky, penalties are a horrible way to lose
Fully expected for it to be a difficult game facing one of the best teams in the game. However I’m disappointed to have come away with no points. We were on top in all departments stats wise including having home and tactical advantage throughout.
We go again tomorrow night where we face Juventus in the semi final of the cup.
A second straight poor result against a Glasgow team. We read Rangers’ tactics like a book and countered them from the off.
To be honest, I was just waiting for us to take the lead really but it never came.
Rangers switched to P with 20 minutes to play as they matched our tactics but it ended a bore draw as we drop further points leading into the final weeks of the season.
Statistically we were the better team but we didn’t take advantage of the situation we had in front of us and if recent performances are anything to go by then we’ll struggle for the rest of the season.
Up next, a EFL Cup semi final against AS Monaco who are under new management so we’ll have to be at our best to progress into the final.
A tight technical affair in this game were both sides obtained the tactical bonus at various points. We started with P and obtained it but perhaps swiched away too soon to A, however unconventionally this worked and Sterling got the only goal of the game for an important three points. The players get to put their feet up for the first time this season mid week with us being out of the domestic cup, but at least we won't pick up any further cards or injuries with the additional game. Some players are in tricky positions DP wise so we will need to manage that the best we can. GG Marshy.
We came with positive intentions and set up to try and have a go but no real surprise that the home side just had too much for us which no doubt would have been the case even if we'd set up more conservatively. Our attacking play was pathetic with 90% of our efforts at goal missing the target so extra training required in that department.
As I said last week our position in 4th spot will be severely threatened over the coming weeks given how tough a run of matches we have. If we perform like we did in this one at Madrid, Roma and Lisbon etc we won't have many points to show for it and we'll soon tumble down the table.
The defensive line up at PSG could not be repeated with both Frimpong and Sessegnon missing from the squad due to suspension. Atletico therefore went with the best they could offer but which included an 18-rated Pieters in defence. The game was relatively mundane despite both sides willingness to commit attacking players into their line-ups. A final shot count of 7-7 was one the away followers would have hoped enough to keep their 14-game unbeaten run going but getting anything from the pesky 3 is very difficult with their higher rated flair but the dice roll of 5-1 on target was the other crucial factor here.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "It was a shame not to be able to have the full team at our disposal but we have shown again we can give the pesky-3 a game these days. At least its one of the difficult games out of the way now but we must still travel away to Roma and Juventus so getting another unbeaten run going will be hard. With the end of season prize money very poor as it stands its imperative we fall no lower than where we are now".
21/25 players have now made their retaining minutes and the suspension tightrope as eased somewhat.
