SHAKHTAR DONETSK 3-1 FC Porto

We still had an eye on some minutes in this one but not to any extremes as we had done previously (mainly used off the bench), that's because we knew Porto missed a fair few today and thought we'd be daft to not look at getting 3 points.

It almost backfired, an early goal against us left us having to claw back against a depleted team. We did manage to do it in what wasn't the most hectic game but we churned 3 goals, one to a late sub squaddie needing minutes!

It's a great result for us, we've been on a bad run of results so 3 points is big right now, as we hunt for a top half finish.

PSV 1 - 2 Feyenoord

PSV played an inspiring first half laying siege continuously to Feyenoord’s back line. Luckily for the tub boys A_Muric was on his game this afternoon making one save after another, truly spectacular keeping. An early defensive effort that saw MoM E_Gutierrez on many an occasion being the thorn on PSV’s offensive line.

Match play started to heat up in the 71st when the visitors opened the scoring, not looking back, they would add another eight minutes later for insurance. The scoring duo of Melendo and O_Idrissi would be enough to give the visitors the much needed win. PSV answered the call late in the match but it was too little too late, L_De_Jong’s 94^th minute goal would not be enough on this day. If there is any solace for the hosts, the injury time goal denied A_Muirc a shutout.

Fiorentina 4-0 Shalke

A much more clinical performance from the lads tonight, and put in a decent performance to match.
We made a few tweaks, welcoming Wijndal back in defence, and pushing Fernandez and Nunez further up, and adopting a more passing game than in recent matches. The midfield was weakened with the sale of Zaniolo, but squad man Chiquinho didn't just earn some minutes, he also went home with a goal and the man of the match award.
Positives were - some important squad player minutes were made, 3 points won, and a good performance
Downsides - Christensen picked up a booking, so will miss the next game, but even that is perhaps preferable to missing next week's Euro game.

It was a huge test for us to play against top of the league Sevilla away from home, but I'm satisfied that we have come to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and secured a point. We did have the tactical advantage for the majority of the game, but the home bonus allowed Sevilla to remain competitive and a draw was probably the fairest result going by the match statistics. Good game.
