Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Another poor result as the opposition counter attacking approach hurts us once again. We led twice but couldn't take advantage of the fact that Napoli had their back up GK between the sticks. Mind you we still created more than Napoli but they were more clinical than us - our keeper has had a shocker of a couple of games with minus 55 abs or the like.
Going into freefall by the looks of it and a really poor season is looming for us. Recruitment wise things aren't looking too impressive of late but I knew that this could potentially happen with us offloading some very talented players.
Finding it difficult to get more business done but we're going to have to try and work some magic in the coming weeks.
Lazio have surprised many this season with their impressive league form so we knew we’d have to bring out A game in order to beat them today and complete a rare league double over Drum and his men who always give us a good game.
We expected C and were happy to give up TA but they came to play opting for P with 4 strikers.
After an uneventful first half in which we shaded, we started the second half even at 0-0 and it seemed like the first goal in this game was going to be huge and it eventually came in the form of a F_Wirtz strike on 62 minutes after we’d controlled the opening to the second half.
We saw the rest of the game out in a nervy back and forth game where either team could have scored the next goal.
Statistically it was very even and Lazio will feel like they could/should have got something from the game.
"We worked out how AC would setup and it didn't matter how much I looked at certain tactics we were always coming out behind due to how defensive I knew they'd setup, we knew we'd only get 5/6 chances on goal against the 17 rated keeper and we took 2 of them which would of been enough to win the game but unfortunately 1 of them was ruled out, its still a good point for us, when youve got 2/3 World class defenders like Milan and your at home to a mid table side, you will still get the majority of the ball even with playing an inexperienced keeper, on another day we knick it 1-2 but if youd of said at the start of the week we'd get 4 points from our 2 games against Roma and AC id of shown you the door."
Perhaps fortunate to be playing a Bayern side who had one eye on getting two fringe players minutes. This gave the home side a greater chance of dominating the game. A shot count of 16-9 enough to gain a valuable 3 points and extend the unbeaten league run to 12 games. Atletico did have their own weakness with the injury to Mbabu who will sit out one match due to a niggle.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Its a great win against a side who should go better this second half now they have a second striker of relevance in their squad. We are on a good run and we should be travelling to PSG in confident mood but unfortunately we are decimated by injuries and suspensions. We will need to enter the transfer market to raise decent teamsheet and give us a chance of causing an upset. We still have enough quality to cause them problems and we cant afford to not give it our best shot with the league looking so tight for a top-8 place".
Musso managed to get himself back to 25-rated but this will be tested with two games coming versus PSG.
13/25 players now have enough minutes to be retained for next season
Good game Chris
Transfer news - Atletico entered the market after the game to bring in Yoshida and Stepanenko. With three players currently missing and 4 players on a booking tightrope more numbers were needed in the short-term.
Critical error made by the manager, when Julian Weigel was ruled out during warm ups, forcing Schlager to start and play the full 90.
"Schlager was not supposed to be in the squad, having agreed a loan deal the day before. We should have adjusted our tactics and used a better approach. I am not making excuses, Atletico Madrid has dominated us recently so the out come may have still been the same."
Bayer Leverkusen take on Napoli next, another team that has caused them problems. A little over midway through the season and Leverkusen still find themselves in a relegation battle.
Not much to say, the better team won, we found ourselves attacking as we usually do and got battered by an in form Madrid, come halftime we were 3-0 and game over, we are always confident at home to take the game to our opponents and have some good scalps over the last two seasons playing this style, but not today we got pumped and deserved nothing. Gg mate
Onto RBL next who I believe is Windy in charge so another difficult game although we really need to pick up the points this second half of the table for a strong finish and we will be looking to make a statement against Red Bull.
Inter away is a very tough fixture for anyone so we was delighted to walk away with the three points after a top performance. Everyone seemed to be in fine fickle in this game, we played well and edged the game but Inter more than played their part. The Talbot Express's engine starting to purr away nicely now that it's getting fully warmed up. Next up is a tricky game against Monaco.
