BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
We hoped to come out flying but once Arsenal went to C is turned into de ja vu for us. The C tactic maintains it's good form against us, regardless how we set up against it.
They scored not long after then we found ourselves chasing the game and just didn't get the breakthrough. They came to try and nick it really and that they did on scoreline, but it was a close game and ultimately it was fine margains that became the difference.
But we're playing bellow standards at the minute and its costing us, adrift in the league and now chasing the tie in Europe, something needs to happen soon for us.
Atleast we have a second leg to try and salvage the tie.
Atletico would travel to PSG with the difficult task of trying to get past the best squad of players in FFO. To do so would need grit, determination, some nouse and some luck.
Atletico shocked the home side in the 20th minute when Muani opened the scoring.
A period of possession and control was needed but PSG hit back literally straight away through Ramos.
Atletico were giving as good as they were receiving and the unlikely hero was Pieters putting the away side 1-2 up on 32 minutes.
That same possession and control deserted the away side again as Ramos scored just 3 minutes later - 2-2.
PSG had a period just before half time of high pressure but half time came. 2-2
The second half was relatively mundane but the game turned on its head with the controversial sending off of Chukwueze sent off for an extremly dubious second yellow card.
PSG even with the extra man struggled to gain control but with the extra quality available Kvaratskhelia made it 3-2
The statistics showed very little between the two sides - shot count of 10-7.
Managers Simon Marsh commented "Oh, we were joyed to see Musso creep to 25-rated for this game. The 09th best keeper in FFO who plays like the 90th best. Another game where every shot went straight in our goal. We are considering a cardboard cut out for the remainder of the season. I have nothing else to say".
With that Musso diminished back into a 24-rated goalkeeper such was his terrible performance!!
A poor performance against Bayern is followed up by a rebound big win against the Premership Champions Leeds United. To win by 4 goals at Elland Road was a big result in the 1st leg and gives us some breathing room for the 2nd leg, although with the score at 0-4 at half time I would have prefered a 5th and 6th goal just to make sure so that we could play some squaddies in the 2nd leg. Still a long way to go in this one against the best of the prem. GG Tim.
A big win away from home in the knockout stages for us today. I'm sure that Inter saw our set up coming a mile off which is why I was surprised that they gave away TA but considering that their team is very strong, this could have been why.
Onto the game and after Inter dominated the opening minutes, we took an early lead through F_Wirtz on 8 minutes.
Inter had the better of the game up until half time but we held firm and went into the break a goal to the good.
Into the second half and we were just waiting on Inter switching up their tactics to come at us more but it never happened, not even when we doubled our advantage on 67 minutes after more Inter dominance.
We saw the game out and will take a 2 goal lead into the second leg at home where we'll still have to be on the ball in order to progress to the semi finals.
It reads like it was all Inter and statistically they were the better team and their GK has had another shocker against us with 2 goals conceded from 3 shots on target which I'm certain will annoy GS and rightly so.
Again at home we are confident but Juventus play a brand of cautious anti-football this season that is seeing them through with some strong performances, we knew they would go C and we still set up way we did as we were confident but it’s just one of those games we lost 2-0 to Juventus earlier in the season conceding 2 goals from 4 on target today we outdo that and concede 2 goals from 3 on target in a game we had the better of the stats, but this is life we face an impossible task of attacking Juventus counter football at home but we just need to see how it goes as we have already won 3-0 there this season and don’t intend to go out with a whimper. Paired with a side that Arsenal know only to well from the domestic Premiership, winning a game against them just a couple of weeks ago, both Man Utd and Arsenal avoided the European forces still in the competition and locked horns in the first leg at Old Trafford with The Gunners taking a narrow lead back to North London ahead of the second leg.
Alexander Isak followed up his hattrick in the last game with the only goal of the game on eighteen minutes when he was put through by Chiesa and made no mistk in scoring past former Asenal keeper Oblak in the Utd goal. A result that Arsenal were more than worthy of, having the lion share of possession and controlling the game allowing them to take a valuable lead back for the second leg.
The Arsenal Manager spoke after the game ;
" When the draw was made we knew this would be a tough tie over two legs from our battles in the league and cup already this season and so it proved once again. Of course we are delighted to get the win to take back for the second leg and if it was a league fixture it would be even better but although its a lead, its only one goal and Utd are more than capable of turning this tie around so we certainly wont be getting carried away with anything and will work hard to try and get the result we need in the second leg ".
Arsenal are back in league action in the Premiership on Friday against Chelsea but will be without Raum who will miss the game through suspension.
