BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
I expected Steve to come out, big dick swinging around, expecting an easy win.
He certainly didn’t get an easy win, but a win none the less. A very competitive back and forth game that included Madrid getting their keeping injured and that being a benefit to them and two lates goals flipping tie in Madrids favour.
Despite losing in the most frustrating manner, it was a game I very much enjoyed being part of and one which proved that we can compete with the big boys and not just get lucky through some freak goalkeeping stats.
Took a bit of a risk here playing attack away from home against one the leagues shining lights this season. Such cavalier tactics could have seen us put to the pointy end of the sword on any other given day given the prowess of the home side at the formidable San Siro (Or whatever GS wants to calls it).
We did envisage that ACM may well try do a Number on us though, so we decided to stand back on 30 minutes and try to line up our sneaky Pee Pee up to the Milan backside, ready for a rough entry. But it seemed Jason wanted a little nice massage and tickle first before he would allow any such frivolities and/or play from Madrid to his side.
So take a step back, and it was back to how it was with the full agro mode. We found ourselves 3-2 down and with our sub keeper on the pitch for over two thirds of the game, one might say that we looked a spent force at the San Siro with just minutes left on the clock.
However, as I mentioned in our last round win over Roma - there is still plenty of fight left in this big dog. We threw the kitchen sink at em. Tadic came on for our DM. Finally, the Milan defence who have been playing like prime Maldini and Baresi all season, buckled, and buckled hard. Madrid had lubed it up just a little too much as first Doku forced one in on 87 minutes and Rodrygo on 88 minutes followed him in to have their wicked ways to secure the three points for RM.
An expected win. But a hard fought one. And one that could be very costly for RM with Donnaruma now out injured for 3 games. 2 big league games and an ultra important CL tie against PSG. PSG themslves faded a GK injury spell just last week so this was annoying, but as Man Utd proved the other season against City in the CL Final, it can be done, and we do have a half decent sub keeper.
Strange game with the home side changing tactics every five minutes. It appeared to freeze the home players with limited attacks in the game. It was literally all Bayern until the 21st minute when Vinicius opened the scoring. New signing combo of De Ven to Pieters finished the game on 76 minutes and it was only then that Atletico started to play well. Overall shot count of 9-7 but it felt like Bayern were on top for the majority of the game.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Its another big win for us clawing ourselves up into 10th place now. Four more games until the half-way mark and I would like a minimum 7 points from the next four games which should hopefully get us into a slightly stronger position half way".

A night off from domestic cup action and so on to Inter Milan next and a very important game for both sides. Any winner could be on the cusp of the champions league places again.
Hosting the league leaders, reigning EFL 1 champions and only team yet to taste defeat in the league this season in all leagues...not many would have given us a chance in this game including myself but we set up to be hard to beat with essentially a 7 man defence for PSG to break down.
PSG came here showing us some respect, playing 6 defensive players and matching our C tactic while in the recent past they'd opted to be more open, trusting their world class players to get the better of the opposition.
Onto the game and after controlling the opening stages of the game, we deservedly took the lead after 24 minutes. PSG quickly shifted to an E tactic and we stuck to our guns with C.
We continued to be the better team and we into the break a goal to the good.
The second half was back and forth until the 77th minute when we went 2-0 ahead before making it 3-0 in the 85th minute. PSG never shifted from their E tactic despite being battered. Perhaps their manager didn't have a plan B?
Statistically we were the better team and deserved all 3 points. No sight of Ed when he loses....I'm having flashbacks to last season's CL final.....
A good performance although still some signs I’m not happy with, we should be scoring more with the chances we created and to be honest Marseille bringing the score back to 3-2 I thought the worst but we got another two goals but really slack at the back and not scoring enough, it’s so far the story of our season but our GK is close to rating up and I suspect it will make a difference. P v C again but unlike some other games when we've faced the counter attacking approach we performed well, created lots of chances and came away with a great result.
Next up we play the other half of Glasgow as we visit Ibrox. Surprised to see Rangers sitting bottom, they're a side we've always struggled against. I expect them to start moving up the table but hopefully they don't kick start their season at our expense.
We get Matip back for that one but Malinovskyi misses out again.
We changed a few things around and looking back it was probably a mistake. We kept the same formation but went for a more attacking mindset, unfortunately we lost Amadou Haidara to injury in the 17th minute.
In the 24th minute Lazio took the lead the lead through De Paul, which prompted a change in mindset from the Monaco management, reverting to the approach that had seen success in recent matches. 15 minutes later Openda scored his 10th of the season to give Lazio a 2-0 lead which they held up to the halftime whistle.
The second goal prompted the Lazio manager into a number of positional changes but almost immediately after half time we got a goal back through Coates, his third of the season. This gave us more than 40 minutes to try and find an equaliser and maybe a winner but unfortunately for the Monaco fans we were unable to further trouble the scorers.
With more shots on target and more of the ball I would like to think we get the game over the line but it wasn't to be and we tumble down the form table.
Good game Drum, good luck for the rest of the season.
Threw a curve ball at Dortmund and played E. We were without our top defender De_Vrij forcing super sub Doherty to start. He certainly filled in adequately scoring a goal and adding two key tackles. He was out done by Meunier who was Man of the Match with four key tackles and a goal. Having both goals scored by defenders was unexpected. Weigl provided great defensive coverage with three key tackles allowing our defenders to join the attack. Good overall team performance, Dortmund had more chances but we had a slight edge in possession.
