BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Never in doubt once we got going. Southampton missed a key player today, but chose to stick with their fairly prominent 5 at the back 5 up the top set up. They scored first and early and we had to be patient to get back into the tie. We did hit back with 2 first half goals and then managed the game in the second half to see us through. We maybe got a bit cautious and maybe could've been bold still for a few more minutes but with Mount missing (again), we set up with as much firepower as we had early and with nothing to really throw on offensively I felt it was better to ensure we just got through.
Some decent performances across the team, a few players playing in different roles to normal but some options to consider going into the coming games.
Against lesser opposition we played a positive game but that didn't stop Middlesbrough from going a goal up in the first period. Eventually we got going and didn't look back in this one as I would have hoped.
A game against a side in our division in the third round made it a tough ask to qualify especially away from home but returning with a 5-0 win and a place in the next round is probably our best result so far this season. I do have to say that looking at the stats its a harsh score on Blackburn as they didn't deserve to lose by that margin but from our point, a great result and one that we are very happy with when four different scorers got the goals.
