Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Both Milan and Lisbon continue to march on, with 7 wins out of 7.
This game was very different to the home match against inter and could have and maybe should have been more than the 1 goal win that has been a main stay in every Milan game. But Monaco pushed and fouled and kicked and attacked every player on the pitch. The fouls racked up and the cards stayed in the refs pocket. They made it hard for Milan and narrowly came away with nothing.
A much needed victory for the away side Atletico. Questions will still be asked as to how other sides at the top are scoring so many goals whereas Atletico are struggling. Again here at both ends of the pitch they failed. A 6-17 shot count should have provided a better result but Musso could only save 1 from 2 shots on target and the chances despite falling to the better shooters did not find the back of the net. Worringly 22-rated Muani has 1 goal from 35 shots!
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Its a welcome win but with the top-6 all winning again all we have done is get closer to 07th place. Lisbon and Ac Milan are threatening to have big seasons and at present two well budgeted sides in ourselves and Inter are outside the top-8".
Think this was one of those games when despite having initial TA we weren't going to get anything. Our keeper had a mare and we missed Juranovic at the back.
Playing C seems to be quite unpredictable. Sometimes it really delivers the goods, other times like here we were all over the place.
Some heavy defeats mean our goal difference is pretty terrible but we remain in the top eight.
*sorry meant to say well played Graeme but phone cut it out for some reason. Well played!
PSG 7 - 0 Bayer Leverkusen
We were expecting a comfortable win going into this one so decided to switch a few things around. We rested 2 defenders, and pulled the DMs back into the back line, and went with a 50032. We suspected our visitors would start with a N tactic, so we decided to start P until the first goal. We raced into a 3 goal lead inside 10 minutes so really opened up, moving one defender into midfield, trying to invite shots to our GK, and boost our tackle count. This led to an odd shotcount of 25-28 for a 7-0 scoreline, but only 12 of the shots faced were on target and were later in the game to fatigued weaker players. Unfortunately we didnt hit the expected 35% tackle count (only got 15%) but our goalkeeper stopped everything that was thrown at him. Great game for our 3xAMs taking 19 of the 25 shots, and a hat trick for Vitinha. Good day at the office.
Next we have 3 games against RM out of the next 5, which will be a slightly tougher ask than Leverkusen.
"Its a good point this one, Lazio arguably the better side and taking the lead, our keeper then got injured before half time and i expected the flood gates to open, fortunately they didnt our backup keeper had the best performance a keeper has had for us this season in the second half, we managed to carve out a few chances and luckily for us Mo Salah was on hand to take an opportunity and level the game up late on, Rasmus Hojlund was named on the bench because Jackson got us the 3 points at Dortmund last week and didnt deserve to lose his spot due to a new signing coming in, we will re evaluate today for the game tomorrow as we might go for a different approach all together with us fielding a lesser keeper.
This was going to be a tough week with an inexperienced goalkeeper, it will be even tougher now tomorrow away at Fiorentina with an even more inexperienced goalkeeper between the sticks but its really not imperative we get anything tomorrow night, I was expecting 0 points this week so its good to get 1 straight away and keep ourselves out of the drop zone in the league, hopefully we can start to move up the table after this week has gone."
Poor performance from the Galaticos. We spent the last 44 minutes shooting endlessly but without scoring.
With free-scoring Real & PSG ahead of us we are going to need to sort out our goal difference by being more clinical in front of goal. Ben Yedder was on the bench for this one - might need to take him off the transfer list and show the others how it's done.
The Galaticos decided to attack aggressively in this one with VVD on the bench and Tadic once again starting in a front 5. Napoli changed their tactics from their usual recent D to a C to counter Madrid and they performed well. Still Madrid easily won the shot count, and somewhat luckily won the game with a 91st minute goal from Leao. I say lucky, as it was a late goal, not lucky because we didn't deserve to win, because we did. We luckily avoided an unlucky result.
Next up is the Champions League and an away trip to PSG. The last time we went to their park, we decided to attack aggressively, and got turned over, so it remains to be seen how we will line up against Clark's team. A loss would not be the worst thing in the world this early into the groups, but as always, we will be going for the win, one way or another.
A good performance away to a side who have started the season well. We set up to pass knowing we’d probably get countered but hoping that having superior players would make the difference and no doubt that was the case.
Pleased to see all of our front 3 amongst the goals but the main thing was the 3 points as we try to keep track with the teams above. We’ve had a pretty kind start to the season in terms of who we’ve played but that is about to change from this point on.
Haven't had time to do a PMR until now...So here it is.
A really poor result for us today against a rebuilding Bayern team. Add this to the losses vs Lisbon & AC and that makes all 3 teams who were expected to fight for the CL places pre season who've come away with a win vs us. Poor effort from myself and the lads.
Onto the game, JB has had a habit in recent seasons of playing C vs my P, but today I decided to match him with C, only for him to play E.
Another oversight in my sheet took me instantly into the wrong formation and it didn't take long for the hosts to be ahead. At this point we both changed tactics to P and Bayern went on to score their 2nd and 3rd goals of the game and we were reeling.
It could have been 4 on 37 minutes but the officials came to our rescue as we headed into the break 3 goals down.
Into the second half and we managed to pull 2 goals back but we were never in danger of earning anything from the game, and rightly so. Bayern were the better team.
Good game JB, apparently we play again tomorrow in Europe.
Like AC Milan the game before we walked right into the cup final sheet from both part time managers and paid the price, these guys churn out repetitive sheets all season and change it for us and we walked into it like we did the week before, that’s on us but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside to know we are still relevant to these guys. The game was a fairly even affair even with us being countered and as expected when Sporting scored then went D, we tossed everything at them but could not score and never did enough to warrant scoring in all honesty, two disappointing games that we walked into the trap, we have now faced all but 1 of the top 8 (who we play Friday) an opening set of tough fixtures but I suspect we will go on a run very soon and close the gap while those around us face reality and start tumbling after winning the 6 game cup. gg
