BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
With Varane out injured for this game, it was time for pre season signing Tadic to make his first start for the club and he responded with a goal, his 3rd of the season so far the other 2 coming from the bench. Also making his full debut was Virgil Van Dijk who joined just a few days ago from struggling Glasgow Celtic. Virgil started on his debut and looked good in the white shirt of the Los Blancos and didn't look out of place in a steady debut. Rodrygo scored another 2 goals to make it 9 goals from just 6 games to wrap up what was a one sided game.
We did have a measure of good fortune in this one as Trent Arnold Alexander went off injured, and we feared the worst for the Champions League game midweek against Villa, what with Varane already out. However, we luckily faded an injury spell for TAA and he will be fit to face the villians, avoiding us needing to play a 17 rater.
Fearful Inter crept out of the changing room with their tails between their legs. Quaking at the sight of the Roma juggernaut and their superior manager.
With a defensive line up, leaving only 1 player up front. Inter had only one plan. Avoid defeat in front of their home fans.
The resulting dull game excited no one.
Courtois has conceded 7 goals in the last 2 games. So at least he avoided disaster here.
Now if only my forwards could learn how to score...
Great comeback win at home against one of the best managers in the league.
Debutant Nkunku was influential and he ultimately changed the game for us with an excellent performance and two goals.
Three wins from five is a good start for us but ultimately we need to find some consistency to start pushing on a bit more.
Played Simon.
A rough season continues for the away side who again despite winning the shot count 12-15 walked away with no points. With 20% more shots and better shooting and goalkeeping skills, Atletico would likely win 7/10 of this game replayed. The esms gods are angry with Atletico.
Marsh commented "We won't panic too much at this early stage but its a poor return for our performance levels and efforts this term. There is long way to go and hopefully some better results to come".
The Transfer King at his best spin, outplayed and lucky to escape with a draw but the implications are bigger and shows the league he’s wounded and on a tilt, we received the first counter attacking tactic of the season from Roma, that to me is a man fearing defeat with one of the best sides around, a team who did not even do this vs Real Madrid or Bayern Munich so I take it as a compliment that he feared for his team that he set up to defend and even then we passed them off the park and created enough chances to win but it wasn’t to be. Next up is Arsenal away in the Champions league. GG Mate, I appreciate the compliment
Celtic came into this one with 5 defeats from 5 games in league & cup but we knew this one wouldn't be easy.
I saw Sam's C tactic coming a mile off so opted for E for the first time in a long time and after Celtic controlled the first half hour, they took the lead not long after and we were chasing the game.
We switched up to A and instantly levelled the score.
The rest of the game was fairly even and we came away with a point.
Statistically Celtic were better in some aspects while we were better in others. I'd think Celtic aren't happy with a point looking at the stats.
The home side had tactical advantage quite a few times during the course of the game and there's no question the score line is extremely harsh on them. We merited the win but certainly not by that margin.
Defender Berchiche with another double and at this early stage of the season he finds himself as our top scorer. However it was back up midfielder Drexler who was the real star of the show. He only started due to Christensen being suspended but helped himself to 3 assists and a MOTM performance.
Next up a trip to Manchester to face City in the Champions League and it'll be a real privilege to lock horns with the absolute GOAT of FFO managers.
