Celtic 1-2 AC Milan

A tricky game away to a much improved Celtic, who have been unlucky so far this season results wise, but we got the tactical call right on this one.

There were moments of this game it felt like we were hanging on a bit but the quality of our defence saw us see the game through. Not great at the moment but 9 points out of 9 sees the best possible start with Milan.

Barcelona 2 Napoli 1

A far from vintage performance but we did enough to merit the win and are one of the five EFL1 clubs who enjoy a 100% record at this very early stage of the season. Good to see Mahrez and Malinovskyi both finally break their duck.

Next up an extremely tough EFL Cup clash against PSG. Feels like we've drawn them in the early rounds of this competition for the last 4 seasons or so. We've a very good record against them but as always we go in as underdogs and will need to be at our very best to progress.

Sociedad 2-0 Monaco

Important three points for us. Managed to get our tactical setup correct playing a C to Monaco's A and that paid dividends. Nathan Tella deputised upfront with Diogo Jota suspended and Asier Ilarremendi came in for his debut in the centre of the park. They both did well.
We looked comfortable throughout with our two goals came from Ibrahima Konate and Karim Benzema.
Six points from our opening three games is decent but a long way to go and many more games to be played.

Dortmund 1 - Sporting 2

A solid away win against Dortmund. We played really well for the first 35 minutes or so but let off a bit after taking the lead for a second time which is something we will need to work on moving forward. If we can improve in that regard, then there is no reason we can't push on further as the season progresses.

Rangers 0 4 Roma

A pathetic effort from Rangers who didn't manage a single shot on target. Courtois hasn't conceded a single goal in the league yet.

If we keep facing defensive C/D we will have a straightforward season. Last season showed it doesn't work against the Roma A.

Different proposition next though - Real Madrid in the cup. And whilst they are a fading superpower under Talbot's calamitous reign. We are taking nothing for granted and will be putting out our best 11 and going for a strong victory.

Real Madrid 4 - 4 Inter Milan

Entertaining game for the neutrals in terms of goals anyway. I thought we had nicked it with a late goal from super sub Sturridge but Inter got the leveller they deserved at the final whistle. An even game, a draw is fair. Well played, Garysean. Inter I'm sure will do well this season.

Next up we have the fake ageing galaticos away from home in the cup. We will be underdogs for that one for sure. But on the other hand, I'm actually feeling quite confident. Bring it on Derek.

Leverkusen 1 Atletico Madrid 2

Atletico got back on track with an away victory at Leverkusen. Vinicius Jnr scored the opener on the 20th minute and debut player Chukwueze doubled the lead on 27. Atletico were pretty much in control of the fixture until the 55th minute when with the security of 2 goals tried to play more adventurous but this only led to the home side having their better spell in the game. Antonio pulled Leverkusen back into the game on 83 minutes but Atletico closed up shop for the remainder of the game. Overall the shot count read 9-13.

Marsh commented “An important win because the league dominance only ever appears to get wider with the same teams having great starts. The fancied three are all on maximum points and only Juve have started slowly”

No players have levelled up this season such is the reduction in abs being gained by players.

Lazio 1 - 3 Juventus

After back to back league defeats, this is a game we HAD to win and we threw caution to the wind by setting up playing A.

Lazio set up with N and in a stroke of luck, I'd left a condition in my sheet to play P if the score was level.....So this fortunately gave us TA on the road.

This advantage gave us our first lead of the season after just 8 minutes and the hosts came after us with an A tactic of their own vs our now C tactic and just 4 minutes later they were level.

We switched back to P while Lazio stuck with A, perhaps an oversight from them?

We took control of the game and on 27 minutes we found a 2nd goal from Giminez as we switched back to C taking TA once again but this 1 goal lead lasted even less time than the first time as T_Nianzou doubled our advantage just two minutes later to give us complete control of the game.

With both clubs changing tactics to P the game went back and forth with us probably having the better of it without increasing our lead nor being pegged back by Lazio as we ran out 3-1 winners.

Statistically it was a fairly even game, with us controlling possession. This is a game that we'd fail to win last season so to come away with a 3-1 win is pleasing, if only we'd performed better in the first two games.

Real Madrid 4 - 4 Inter Milan

A strange game, one with many goals but no abs gained really, suppose each game cant be a Torino ! for anyone reading the match it was so back and forth it was unreal but we never took the lead we were always chasing the game, we deserved the point if the 86th minute goal was the winner from Madrid i would have been raging tbh as it was not deserved. we are playing well, scoring goals but ben a tad unlucky with our game vs PSG and shown we were more than a match for Madrid here away from home so i am happy with the start we have made, we face a difficult start in the league this year with four away games in the first six and three of those games vs the top three sides, we move on to Lazio in the cup next.
