Second game against a Sheffield side and early goals somewhat nullified the tie. We found ourselves 3-1 up at half time but have to play the FA Cup without De Ligt after his red card. But a goal each in the second half rounded up the scoring, and we took our chances which was the difference on the day. I feel we did deserve the win despite what some will say when you look at stats, finishing with 10 men, and more minutes on those pesky squaddies meant we was going to be a bit open and we did the damage early doors.
Ansu Fati has has been impressive early doors this campaign and another 2 goals makes it 6 so far this season so we're pleased he's started well and long may it continue.
Despite the score line suggesting otherwise this was actually a very close game. Yes we are having huge problems with conceding goals but at the same time problems with scoring goals and I cant blame the lack of goals scored on my GK even if I can for conceded goals. Three games and three big defeats and sat at the foot of the table. I know that I have weakened the squad to gain some age but surely we are better than this.
It took a late leveller from Arsenal to get a draw away at Chelsea in round three with literally the last kick of the game coming from sub Sallai. Arsenal took the lead through Correa but soon found themselves behind against the run of play but just when it looked like the Gunners were heading for their first defeat of the season, they got a deserved equaliser to take a point back to North London.
The Arsenal boss spoke after the game ;
" I think to have lost that would have been harsh on my team today as were the better of the two sides in this one which is a fixture that isn't on our favourite list out of them all. Its a tough place to get anything from especially lining up the way they did but we dud deep, never gave up and kept to our plan and were rewarded with the ll important second goal for us which got us a point making it seven from a possible nine so far which is a great return and the exact start we wanted. We wish Andy and his Chelsea side the best for the season ".
Next up for Arsenal is a visit to the Emirates from Sheffield Wednesday.
Had a feeling that the Hammers would play E so we went P. It was an even game until Thiago was sent off for West Ham and then we started applying the pressure and dominated the game only to lose 2-0. I don't know how we lost to a team that played with only two defenders for over half of the game. Bit of a joke.
On possession and shots on target, City battered us. But thankfully we had tactical advantage throughout the first half and eventually we were fortunate enough to get a late penalty that Gabriel Veron popped away for his first goal of the season. The second half saw Wolves adopt a more defensive approach which didn't stop the home side from equalising within minutes of the restart. Wolves kept it tight and were eventually rewarded with a point away from home against title contenders. Only downside was the unnecessary second yellow card picked up in the last minute of the game by Alex Mowatt that sees him miss our next game.
Well played Nick.
Our next games sees us back in the FA Cup with a trip up to Tyneside to face fellow Prem side Newcastle United.
