AC Milan 1-0 Dortmund

We are not a free flowing side at the moment, but with 2 goals in our first 2 games and 2 clean sheets I can’t really complain.

The lack of quality upfront for Dortmund shone through in this game and gave us the edge, despite losing TA for most of the game.

An early goal from Lindelof was enough to see the game off, but ultimately Dortmund controlled the game but without really threatening the goal. It was a nervy one for all Milan fans and so far they will remain unconvinced that Hopton was the right choice for the role. #wheresanthony

Lazio Score Dramatic Last Minute Winner After Surrendering Two Goal Lead

With Windebank stepping in as caretaker of the Italian Capital side Lazio there was intrigue to see if Windebank could still compete in the tough egotistical world of the EFL with him now plying his trade in the more docile 2nd tier of English football.

Windebank expecting the big C set up Lazio to play European style football and it worked a treat as Lazio were two goals up within just three minutes through Aouar and De Paul before rolling out the big park the bus tactic.

The action of the game reduced but in the 21st minute De Gea made a rash challenge in the box and Napoli were awarded a penalty that Mane made no mistake in hitting the back of the net.

Lazio then gained tactical advantage with Counter against Passing and despite having slightly better of the game for the rest of the half they could not add to their one goal advantage.

The game was on a knife edge and Napoli were having a lot of the ball in the 2nd half with the stadium erupting in the 84th minute when Ugarte turned with his back to goal and slotted the ball in the back of the net to pull the game back level.

The question was could Napoli carry the momentum and get the important winner but with the switch of tactics to the starting tactics for both sides Lazio sucked the life out of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona when Semedo found defender Araujo who flicked the ball past the desperate Napoli keeper to grab a massive last minute winner to send the travelling faithful wild.

Lazio had 54% possession and created 13 chances to Napoli's 11 of which 9 were on target to Napoli's 3.

Windebank's Post Match Comments

That was a great win out there today against a good side and very good manager. I have a lot of experience in this League so I know how tough it is to get results but I think we deserved the 3 points today.

I am not sure how long I will be dipping my toe into the EFL but I want to make sure Drum comes back to as many points as possible.

We have another Italian derby on Monday when we face my old Mukka Andy Bank's Juventus a game I always look forward too.

Sporting 2 - Juventus 1

A good result and a performance I am happy with overall. We showed a lot of intent and while the shots were nearly even, Juve's defenders were far busier on this occasion. And, of course, having a player like Lewandowski can be the difference in games like this. All in all, a good start to the season.

Roma 2 0 Celtic

A straightforward win against an improved Celtic side. Some wayward shooting meant we had to wait until the 90th minute to secure a 2nd goal which made the TK a little twitchy in the dugout.

Happy with 3 wins out of three. And with the big boys already gathering at the top could be a cracking title race.

Atletico 2 Barcelona 5

The score line certainly flatters us, we had one more shot on target so obviously 5-2 isn't a fair reflection of how tight the game was.

Nevertheless we're delighted to pick up 3 points at such a tough venue and against one of the teams we'd be expecting to be competing with towards the top end of the table. Jesus was back from suspension and was electric today scoring with all 3 of his shots.

A good first week for us but we know how quickly things can change so we're certainly not getting carried away.

Atletico Madrid 2 Barcelona 5

Atletico dominated this game for the majority but endured a thrashing due to poor play in the final thirds of the pitch. Atletico enjoyed a 16-11 overall shot count, which was as much as 15-7 after 76 minutes of the game. Only a late flourish from Barca brought the shot count closer. One issue was Atletico's 7/16 on target to Barcelona's 8/11. The other issue was Musso who conceded 5/8 shots.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "We have been involved in football long enough that these results come along from time to time and all one can do is go again. Barcelona will be in the mix at the end of the season but it is a disappointing result. We can take heart from the performance though as we would probably win 8/10 games played out like this".

Atletico will have Samuel Chukwueze available for the visit to Leverkusen.

Sporting Lisbon 2 - 1 Juventus

Back to back defeats to start the season wasn't how we wanted this week to pan out.

Lisbon playing A vs our P came as a surprise but they have the quality to back up such a bold tactic and after an even opening, the hosts took the lead just 13 minutes in.

We went on to control the next 20 minutes or so and found our leveller on 34 minutes through D_Kulusevski and we looked to push on to get a winner.

Half time came and went and shortly after the break, another random event, a penalty, gave our opponents the change to re-take their lead which they did through R_Lewandowski.

We continued to have the better of the exchanges and after Lisbon's switch to D after 69 minutes, we never looked like earning a point as Lisbon ran out winners.

Statistically it was a fairly even game, just one of those games where the home team gets the win. Good game Cheyenne.

We have LOTS of work to do if we want to rescue our season after the worst possible start.

Inter 6-0 Sociedad

Well that was ugly....
Taken apart by Garysean's side but do feel the scoreline was harsh. Their class shone through and we got a big reminder of how tough EFL 1 is.
Not really much else to say from we must do better and well played Inter, you were brilliant and we were not.

RB Leipzig 0-0 Rangers

A solid performance here against Scottish opponents again, following our opening day win in Glasgow against Celtic. Tweaked our set up slightly as we were playing on paper at least, a better squad of players. Our more adventurous approach here almost paid dividends, but ultimately we were pleased to come away with a point and cement our unbeaten start to the season in league and cup. Sarkic was on point today and made several good saves, and was called into action more than his opposing number which could have been telling in the end. But overall, a very open game which both sides could have pinched and a good performance.

Inter Milan 6-0 Real Sociedad

A powerful performance, we played perfect today which is unfortunate for Sociedad, i do not think any side would have stopped us winning today its back to back games of sensational performances but we need to keep it going and beat Real Madrid next away to determine how much stronger we are performing. Todays game Saint_Maximin (2,49), S_Gnabry (24,63,67) scored the goals, a brand new partnership this season at the club but both have hit the ground running, a sore one for Sociedad today but i know they will recover from this. gg mate

Real Madrid 4 - 3 Bayern Munich

"I'm sorry for my late response to the media for this match, I kinda watched the match then got busy with training. Not even sure what else happened in the league, I need to catch up. But this was a fantastic comeback with two late, late, goals which stole a win over a young Bayern side who must have thought the three points was there's.

I'm disapointed with the result to be fair, as the away side only had a poor keeper between the sticks with their main man injured, so we should have won by more, but Bayern had a solid game plan and did well. They are young, and will come good, but although it was a poor performance by us, we still got the three points and showed some grit to get there at the death. Good game, Jon."

Quite a even game I'd say we've still trying to find our feet after that spanking real Madrid gave us in opening day. This game was for anyone both teams could have won but a draw will have to do point is a point on to the next
