Galatasaray 0 - 3 Juventus

While we progress into Round 2, this is a disappointing result. Against a team so much worse than ours, with us going all out attack we expected to steamroll Galatasaray but that wasn't the case.

We were held to just 14 shots, only 7 on target and just the 3 goals.

A brace from Giminez and a 3rd from Nianzou saw us into the next round where we'll face Marseille. A cup run would be nice but in this competition we tend to struggle.

Sporting Lisbon 1 - 0 FC Union Berlin

Another encouraging performance despite the result. Think we had Sporting on their heels early on, forcing them into a bunch of fouls but we couldn't get that break through and they eventually shored up their discipline. Not much point in sitting back inviting pressure as we'll never improve as a club even if it means missing out on a few 0-0 draws or cheeky 1-0 victories. We don't have anyone in our starting eleven who comes close to Robert Lewandowski skills-wise, never mind coming off the bench. Bring back the replay!

Torino 2 - 11 Inter Milan

Not much to say really, division 3 side with three at the back resulted in one of the most one sided games i have seen, 11 goals, 1600+ abs and 95 shots on goal, a good day at the office for us under strange circumstances which has been closed off in the future, i admit i would have be angry if one of my rivals had this game but i cannot pretend that im not happy with the abs haul and the progression in the cup, we face Lazio at home in the next round which is a tough ask but we must go on a run in the cup and we will be looking to win.

RB Leipzig 3-0 Lyon

A comfortable Round 1 victory for us here saw us ease into Round 2, and a home tie against Young Boys. Tried to keep some continuity with setup and the players responded with a controlled performance, Milik again in the goals with 2 more to his tally for the season. A cup run would be great for this season in terms of maintaining momentum and results, but you always need a bit of luck with the draw opening up along the way so let's see what Round 2 brings.
