    Barnsley 3-1 Peterborough United

A routine win for the Tykes over the league 1 opponents in the end although they did peg us back to 1-1 early in the second half. Ryan Kent continues his good form as he picks up his second man of the match award in a row whilst goals came from Zappacosta, Delort and Maddison as we go through to the second round.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 MANCHESTER UNITED (AET)

It was a hard fought game and if it was a league game we'd walk away with a draw which we could argue was about right. But, from leading the game we gave away the lead in the second half then new boy mount had a rush of blood and deservedly got sent off for an unnecessary elbow. We held on to extra time, which was probably our best spell of the match, and Joao Cancelo popped up with 8 minutes to go to steal the win.

It was a close enough game, as I touched on before, you'd say a draw was right but in cup football someone has to go through and fortunately it was us today.

We'll take it, and hopefully continue to pick up wins.

Appologies for the Error, but this wasn't picked up on the teamsheet checker (mentioned to JB already). If you use it, just be cautious, I've even tampered with the league file and that doesn't pick it up either.

        West Ham 5-1 Nottingham Forest

Reporter: Tough match out there today with a 5-1 loss. What are your initial thoughts on the game?

HD: Look, it's undeniable that West Ham were clinical in front of goal, but the scoreline flatters them. I refuse to believe it was a fair reflection of the game - they had 12 on target and we had 10. Our strategy was disrupted early on, but I'm proud of the way our team continued to fight. The result is really harsh on us.

Reporter: There were a few controversial decisions, particularly two goals allowed after VAR. What's your opinion on the officiating today?

HD: I'll be honest and risk a fine from the FA; the officiating was below par. It seemed like every 50-50 decision went against us. The VAR decisions were particularly galling. It’s not just about the technology; it's about how it's used - referees these days get pressured into these silly technical things now. We felt hard done by today.

Reporter: Isco seemed to have a field day against your defence. Was there a specific plan to contain him, and why didn't it work?

HD: Isco is a world-class player, and we were aware of the threat he posed. We had a plan to contain him, but obviously, it didn't work out as we hoped. Sometimes, you just have to appreciate an exceptional talent.

Reporter: Your team committed several fouls, leading to a couple of bookings. Is discipline something you're concerned about?

HD: Football is a physical game, and sometimes emotions spill over. I don't believe discipline was a major issue today. We are a passionate team that fights for every ball. Yes, we will analyse our approach, but I won't criticise my players for showing heart.

Reporter: Morgan Gibbs-White scored a goal today. How do you rate his performance and the attack overall?

HD: Morgan showed his quality with the goal, and he was one of the few bright spots today. As for the attack, we created chances but were not as ruthless as we needed to be. That none of our strikers have scored yet in two matches concerns me. We'll be working on that.

Reporter: Looking ahead, what's the main takeaway from this match?

HD: The main takeaway is that we need to be more clinical and assertive in both boxes. We'll take this loss on the chin and learn from it. We're not going to let one result define our season. West Ham will do well this year, I have no doubt about it. We'll regroup, refocus, and come back stronger.

        --------

Well played Todd, good luck rest of the season )

          FA Cup Round 1

Goals Galore At The Den With Millwall Progressing To The 2nd Round

          Scorers

          Smith (26th Minute)
          Aidomo Emakhu (40th Minute)
          Yusuf Kabadayi (42nd Minute)
          Aidomo Emakhu (43rd Minute)

          Lee Gregory (59th Minute)
          Simon Terodde (87th Minute)

Fresh from their dismantling of Stockport County The Den was full for the visit of the six fingered League One side Plymouth Argyle for the first round of the FA Cup.

Millwall setup 4-4-2 Attacking and surprised their fans with some squad players getting some minutes. Henning Matriciani, Axel Disasi, Casper De Norre and Simon Terodde got their first starts of the season making way for Leif Davis, Josip Stanišić, Marvelous Nakamba and Dane Scarlett. Plymouth Argyle setup 4-3-3 European conceding both home and tactical advantage to the SouthLondon outfit.

As to be expected Millwall dominated the opening 15 minutes but could not get the opening goal, then all of the sudden Plymouth put their foot on the gas and thoroughly deserved to take the lead in the 26th minute when Pleguezuelo through ball found Smith who lobbed the outrushing James Trafford to give the Devon side a 1-0 lead.

Millwall did not panic though and a mistake from the Argyle keeper from a Casper De Norre corner saw Club Captain Wonderkid Aidomo Emakhu calmly slot the ball into the net for a 40th minute equaliser.

Before the celebrating Millwall fans could take their seats another Millwall teenager turned the game on its head when Yusuf Kabadayi sprinted through the sleeping Plymouth defence lobbing the Argyle keeper from 30 yards to make it 2-1 in the 42nd minute.

The Den was rocking and the fans could not finish their famous song with the rendition of No One Likes Us not getting to We Don't Care as on loan Benfica defender Jeremiah Israël St. Juste found the rampaging Aidomo Emakhu who hit a great first time shot to get his 2nd and Millwall's 3rd 60 seconds after the 2nd goal.

The Plymouth AI manager was furious and made two substitutions before the half time whistle went to a rapturous appreciation from the Millwall faithful.

Millwall were all over the Devon outfit before getting hit by a sucker punch when former Lion Lee Gregory pulled a goal back on 59 minutes to make the score 3-2 and the Den very nervy.

Millwall were all over Plymouth like a bout of German Measles but frustration started to build as they could not get that all important fourth goal for some breathing space. In the 87th minute those fears were put to bed when Yusuf Kabadayi found his German counterpart Simon Terodde who got his 2nd goal in as many games to put Millwall into the hat for the 2nd round draw.

The Millwall fans were ecstatic with 3 three sides of the ground singing "we've got a big Fucking German, Big Fucking German" which Terodde seemed to lap up as he seems to be enjoying life with the Lions.

Millwall smash the absolute fanny out of their League One opposition having 64% possession and creating 22 shots to Argyle's 12 and having 12 shots on target to 5.

          Windebank's Post Match Comments

What can I say we destroyed them and got plenty of minutes into the legs of our squad players showing the depth and winning mentality of my players. Historically I struggle managing against the AI and was very concerned we would get knocked out by this League One club.

Thankfully that was not the case and we showed real character to again come back after going a goal down. That is a good habit to get into and the abs earned for my players today were remarkable. Aidomo Emakhu has also rated up to 18 rated which cant be bad earning 86 shooting abs in just two games.

Getting to the next round is massive for a club our size especially with the £2.5m gate receipts we receive for each round we are in the Cup.

The fans, players and staff will be glued to the FFO TV screens for the next round draw and we will be really hoping for a home draw against anyone coz no one likes a trip to deep South Bandit Country.

We have a massive game against Luton Town next at the Den and really need to be focused following their opening day draw after throwing a two goal lead away to Coventry City and losing to League One Hull City on penalties tonight after being 2-1 up.

Neil Stockley will not be happy so we need to make sure we are fully on our game if we are to get a positive result against his side and maintain our 100% start for as long as possible.

Tonight we will just count the additional £2.5m our fantastic performance has earned us.

            Cardiff 1-2 Brum

Excellent result for us down in Wales against my old side. We were under the cosh for most of the match but took our chances when they came along. Goals from Hogan and Bacuna either side of a Zapata strike for the hosts saw us through.
A nice little bit of cash earned is always a bonus for a small club like us ans hopefully we can get through a few more rounds to boost the coffers.
            Played Matt.

Stats wise there was not a lot between the two sides, but in reality on the pitch the gulf in class clearly showed. Wolves were always on top and will be disappointed in conceding to the home side and not keeping a clean sheet. Frustrating that Emerson Royal picked up a late yellow for a naïve challenge. Onward into the next round and interested to see who Wolves draw.

Back to the league for the next game as Wolves play host to Sheffield United.

                Arsenal 2 - 1 Liverpool

Not the draw that Arsenal would have wanted but after beating the blue side of Merseyside in round one of the Premiership, it was Liverpools turn to visit The Emirates and after avoiding a scare of going a goal down, the Gunners turned the game round to get a deserved win overall and book their name into round two of this seasons FA Cup thanks to goals from Khéphren Thuram and another from Federicho Chiesa who makes it two in two for the frontman.

                The Arsenal Manger spoke after the game ;

" When you look around the first round draw, of course there are sides we would rather have played rather than Liverpool, a tough side to play against as we have found out on many occasions in the league but it was what it was and we have to be pleased to get a very good win and really good performance to come from a goal down to win. We really want to get a good cup run going and hopefully this can be the perfect springboard for us to enjoy one ".
