Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Odd choice from Leverkusen to set up at home with a D - especially while playing 2 AM's which seemed counter intutative to me anyway. I know they had two players out, but they had strong backup and didn't have to field a squaddie or anything... Strange.
Even more strange was them staying at D when 0-1 down, and they didn't change out of D until the middle of the 2nd half when they was already 0-2 down. Good win from us away to a mid table team, was a bit weird, but we will take it.
one simple plan here, avoid yellow cards and keep almiron on the pitch for the whole game, who is now well on target to meet his minutes for the season. If that meant we could screw with Madrid and get a boring 0-0 draw then we would have been happy with that.
as it happens, we got a yellow and have 3 defenders out now for the next game. But that is what it is! Good game Steve
A good performance to get back on track for surviving relegation. Marseille quickly took the lead and it wasn't looking great to concede after 10 minutes but RB struck back a little while later, with Milik and Martial getting on the scoresheet to lead at half time. Leipzig held on with the defence under bombardment and increased there lead through Vlasic, there was a glimmer of hope for Marseille when they scored there second goal to be within one goal to share the points but RB put the game to bed when defender Wisdom scored with a few minutes to go to take all 3 points.
Barcelona 3 PSG 2
Well if any team was going to end our unbeaten league run it was probably going to be Barca. !9 wins and 3 draws and a 22 game run is the best in my FFO career, but it had to end sometime.
As usual, weetabix fingers conceded from the first attack faced, and we were always on the back foot. Tactically, they controlled the game, and we have no complaints. On another day, we may have got a draw, but we were never really in this tie. I had expected to get a point at best, so coupled with Roma losing, we actually finish the round 2 points better off than expected.
7 points now needed from 5 games, although i really wanted it sewn up before the last 2 games against RM and Roma where we could easily come away with 0/6. So 7 points needed from LIS,rbl, laz unless Inter can pick up a point at home to Roma in R39. Otherwise Roma have a very easy run with leverkusen (missing 3 defenders), napoli and monaco.
Roma arrived in Madrid with their title hopes seemingly in ruin and Derek Hughes sulking at the back of the plane. A big game for both sides with Roma hoping for a PSG slip up and Atletico needing the points to maintain any hopes of finishing 3rd place still. Three goals in a 7-minute purple patch ended a goal drought for the home side and the game was relatively comfortable from then on in. Only a Sancho penalty miss and a late late Roma consolation avoided an embarrassing result for Hughes.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "We matched Roma shot for shot and were a bit more clinical on the day. It was a massive victory for us when you consider that 03rd to 08th all won. The defeat for the top 2 at least gave the rest a bit of a boost for the future and have a mere 22-points and 50 goals to catch up now. 5 games to go. We could do with 10-12 more points at least".
E_Alvarez 24 mex 1 17 20 11 33 1 855 13 5 improved his passing and is looking real quality heading towards 18-20-11
Glik and Coleman again fell a little behind their required minutes needed with Glik needing 17.60 and Coleman 15.00 in the remaining games.
Next up is Real Sociedad who have some real playing time issues to resolve still.
Pacheco (44) Sola (146) Vivian (200) Morcillo (21) Nartey (129) and Sorlath (562) need to be played in the next 5 games. Finding 6 new players for next season would be a major headache
As Ed says I think on this occasion we actually deserved to win and it did feel like we got things right tactically. On our day we're capable of beating any team in the game but our lack of consistency is our downfall which is why we're so far off the pace. So that's something we have to strive to improve on.
PSG have been utterly relentless the majority of the season and are going to win the league so to beat them 3 times out of 4 including the cups is no mean feat - showing again that my ignorance of the numbers game can be overcome.
5 games to go and it would be nice to try and climb another place or two in the table but it's not vital to us by any means. I know some managers wank themselves off over finishing 3rd and 4th but anything other than 1st is nothing to shout about.
Cheers Ed and enjoy that trophy celebration when the inevitable happens.
After back to back defeats, we knew that this one would be one we'd have to win. We had our GK back from injury so opted for our attacking P which was matched with a P from Lyon.
We immediately took the lead through F_Wirtz and went on the hunt for more. Lyon hit us on the counter attack however F_Wirtz doubled his & our tally for the game just 8 minutes later and we were in control.
Soon to be departing S_Botman added a 3rd on 22 minutes and it looked like it could be another hammering for Lyon, especially when long time Roma target A_Isak add a 4th on 35 minutes.
The goal was so special that it prompted Roma manager Derek Hughes to make a massive cash offer for the services of Isak come the end of the season.
We had hoped to push on and score more but the game ended 4-0 and we romped to victory.
Statistically we held Lyon to zero shots on target, and were by far the better team. Good game Jason. Don't quit.
In all honesty, a disappointing loss and I think we deserved more. Ultimately Monaco have a more experienced side and manager and that probably got them through. We’re still a young side and need to learn this sort of game management they displayed.
Played John, good luck for the run in.
Lazio have been unlucky this season with teams ahead of them in Champions League spots, we knew the game would be tough especially having Olmo out with suspension but we did what we did best and attacked and in the end got the reqard, the game was very very even in stats, Lazio probably shaded it away from home but not to be unexpected with one of our midfielders out so to score the game winner through Mount on the 29th minute and not concede we can only be happy with getting the three points and keeping the pressure on Madrid and Atletico. gg mate
