Embarrassed in the cup, tonight showed what we're capable of.
West Ham opted for a back 3, a bit unusual, but the only damp spot was the goal we conceded but they did have chances in the game so it's not the end of the world on the grand scheme of things.
But, like I've said, this is the type of game we should be having and results we expect. Now we only have the league to focus on so try and finish as high as we can, it's all we can do.
As far as bad days at the office go this day was right up there. We was countered throughout this match but that was expected and I thought that we should have coped with the situation much better than what we did. Another big disappointment coming out of the game was further suspension hitting us on the top of existing suspensions. Something I wouldn't normally mention but as certain other high profile managers have already let the cat out of the bag, managers who also have nothing to gain apart from causing mischief then it can only be said that I am very disappointed with them, although far from surprised at the level of interference from these individuals.
We went D at 3-0 up and to be honest we never anticipated that against a solid side and manager (I will buy you a beer?). Things clicked for Barnsley early on and despite giving up TA when ahead comfortably we kept the clean sheet. Pleasing to see Dia bag another goal - what a signing. Delort was quiet, but we will take the points as we really hope to finish in this European places. Long way to go but an honour to be ahead of two insanely talented squads in, Blackburn and West Ham. We hope it continues. GG Peter.
We had to put in a make shift defence for this one with two of our regular starters out through suspension but they held up and the attacking players did their part to get another win on the board for us. Pepe yet again getting the first with Locatelli chipping in from defence and Madueke completing the win. Also good to see Balde play against us, our loan player at Stoke, Bridgey is doing great with him and he will return a very god player.
We let them race in to a 3 goal lead and that meant the game was all but over very early on. Really disappointing display, we got nothing from the game and deserved nothing from the game. We did try and come back, got 2 goals back and huffed and puffed a bit but if you look at the stats, we just never really got in the game and came away with nothing, deservedly so.
I think I have learn something tactically today which may help me going forward.
We are now too far away from Man City. It was lovely to be in the conversation for a while but this has put an end to that in my mind. We now need to get back on track.
played Newcastle, excellent win, fully deserved
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
The sending off of Carlos was the deciding factor in this game, and certainly robbed us of at Least a point. No problem we move on as our recent good form comes to an end. Good game mate.
