Pretty sure if we didn’t have a 16 rater in goals we would have won. Home advantage, tactical advantage, majority of possession and chances but succumb to a loss. Don’t get aggression rating at times, set it to 4 and Dolberg gets sent off in the thirtieth minute?!
Fair play to Euan and Marseille they took advantage of the situation and take a vital three points back to France.
Got our tactics right and got the early goal. PSG pulled back level. Trent went off injured on 14 minutes, and with Mendy already out of this game, we had no real defensive cover on the bench. Still, we countered PSG for all the first half and it was 2-2 on 47 minutes. Rudiger then got sent off though (another red card!!) which left us down 3 top defenders in total. PSG took advantage of this gift, and 2 more second half goals sealed an important win for them that really puts a massive tent in our title defence. We've had no luck at all the last 3 games, hopefully we have used up our bad luck quota now and can put a run together for the 2nd half of the season and/or revert to harvin. We will recall Witsel from his loan at Stoke to cover as we now have 2 defenders out for the next game. GG Ed, PSG got some luck but are a quality side and don't need much.
Real Madrid 2 PSG 4
Steve has covered most of it. The top 3 sides are so similar in quality that the games are typically draws, or rely on luck for a result. We got a huge slice of luck today, which cancels out the robbery we faced at the hands of AC Milan. Hat trick for Pino as he continues to outshine Felix. However, i suspect that will change in a couple of games when Felix becomes a captained 24 rater. Next up is Roma, and provided we dont lose by 4 goals we go into the mid season break top of the table.
Good game, unlucky SteveT
Great win against one of the better teams in the league. We expected C from the travelling AC Milan team so our E tactic gave us TA but we knew that AC have a lot of talent in the key areas and this wouldn't be an easy game for us.
After a back and forth start to the game, it was the away team who took the lead on 14 minutes and swiftly looked to park the bus with a D tactic while we went for a Passing approach.
These changes whilst I feared would kill the game, gave us the advantage we needed as we dominated the next period of the game and were level just before the half hour through A_Isak.
To sour our celebrations, E_Camavinga limped off injured but early reports state that he will be fit and available for the next game thankfully.
While we switched back to our original tactic of E, AC Milan stuck with D (Seems like the former big clubs are happy with a point away to us, what is this madness?!) and we continued to be the better team.
As the first half was coming to an end, AC switched to A, thus giving them TA but 2 minutes into injury time we took the lead through Antony and ended the half with a 1 goal lead and TA (C vs A)
Into the second half and it was a very even game, with both clubs creating chances but with no more goals in the game, we ran out 2-1 winners and gained 3 more valuable points in a very tricky game.
Statistically we were the better team, however with 23 shots and only 9 on target we need to be more clinical in future games.
An unusual game. Atletico take the lead with TA, makes sense, I called it wrong. Atletico then switch up and give TA to Leverkusen, then score again. A couple changes then gives TA to Atletico and Leverkusen then score.
A very open finish with Atletico picking up a third to make it comfortable and the game itself felt very one sided but not replicated by the stats, bit bizarre.
Bayer have improved this season and a struggle to work out tactically as they change things around so much. Fortunately we got it right early on which helped Vinicius open the scoring on 9' minutes. He doubled the lead on half time for 2-0 but Almiron pulled on back immediately. Thankfully Sancho was on hand to gain the 2-goal lead scoring on 53'.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Really pleased to get through this tricky game and take the 3 points and good to see us hitting the back of the net in the league to reach 30 at last. Its way down from what we need it to be but our points tally continues to go in the right direction and I believe we have moved up into 5th place now".
D_Dumfries 26 ned 1 19 15 6 22 1 675 83 7 improved his shooting.
Next up will signify the half-way stage of the campaign with a trip to Inter Milan. Pressure on with 3-points and £19 at stake.
A draw looks to be a fair outcome based on the stats. We took an early lead through Mahrez but couldn't build on it so that's disappointing. League wise we're really going to have to buck up our ideas in the second half of the season but thankfully the cups are ensuring it's not all doom and gloom down Camp Nou way.
Decisions to be made on the captain front too. Change things up and our GK is going to drop to a 21 for a while which isn't ideal with some massive games around the corner. Tempted to hand the armband to Jesus though so a bit of thinking to do.
The outcome leaves me with mixed emotions yet again. While appreciating we took the lead i dont understand how we can counter monaco and take an attacking game to them and produce very little its one of the most pathetic games ive seen for actions, just a boring poor game wher we squandered a 1-0 lead, again miffed at the quality on display, fair play to Monaco, they dominated at home but thats one of the worst games ive ever witnessed on FFO, be more fun D V D, well played john much deserved.
A late goal settled this tie between two favourites for relegation after a Leipzig had got back on level terms. Martial and Milik where on target for RB but obviosly not enough for just a point. And almost at the halfway point of the season RB are looking in decent shape for life in the Conference.
