    Roma 4 0 Burnley

With the Germans gifting Chelsea an easy 3 points we needed to win this one to keep our historic treble on track.

Our critics expected us to wobble here but within 11 minutes we were safely in the quarter finals.

A very tough quarter-final awaits us - but we don't fear anyone. We'll have 3x22 raters up front by then.

      MANCHESTER UNITED 2-1 Sporting Lisbon

We're out. And that's enough. A poor showing in Europe to be honest.

We left a late rally, but Barca lost to Arsenal when it counted and in the main, sums up the season.

We've already had some week offers on some of our players since being knocked out so the vultures are circling and expecting... well I don't know what.

No issues, not good enough and simply I expected it given apart from 1 season, Europe isn't my forte.

        Aston Villa 2 - 3 Real Madrid

Decided to play it straight to give both teams in contention a real shot at qualifying below us. Villa went infront twice, but in what was an even game we came back to do the double over Villa in europe and qualify as group winners with the most points in the competition. That doesn't count for anything though in the knock outs.

Villa qualify too, and it's Auf Wiedersehen, Pet to Newcastle who miss out on goal difference having only won 1-0 vs Inter.

For Real, it looks like we will either have a derby with City's conquereros Atletico, a Galácticos battle with the old men of Roma or a rematch verses Arsenal. All tough games. Roll on the draw.

Atletico Madrid 4 Manchester City 2

          gg Nick

Not many teams beat the mighty Manchester City once in a season so the task to gain a quarter final spot was an uphill one for a side that have failed to get out of the group stages previously. Nicks Manchester City do not fear anyone and do not play for draws. Atletico chose passing tactic half expecting a normal approach but happy to settle for passing or attacking. In the end it began passing v passing.

2 minutes in and the uphill became upmountain when Harry Kane made it 0-1. However, 1 minute late and Diaby levelled matters 1-1. 11 minutes and Roma target Romagnoli showed why the bid needs increasing when he made the game 2-1. Atletico scored again on 31' when Sancho lobbed home and the fans were in dreamland. 57' and Foden made it 3-2. A nervous and twitchy time with some 33 minutes still to see out. Both sides had chances.....and then motm Sessegnon capped a fine performance by scoring the goal that sealed victory.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Well we made it, just. Unbelievable effort from the lads over 6 games. I winced at the draw, a real group of death for us to be placed with 2 of the games mega-teams when I thought this was the first opportunity we may have at having a side capable of making the final-8. To get through this group has been a massive success but we can't stop there. We have to try and seize the opportunity and put up another fight against either Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barcelona I believe".

          L_Paqueta 25 bra 1 3 20 18 30 1 766 4 374 improved his passing this evening and is now looking a real quality auction signing.

            Parisiens 4 - 1 Spurs

We deserved far better in this one and was the better team but somehow we lost 4-1. Our last game of the campaign and good abs overall. Can’t be too disappointed when we get a abs haul for most players.

Good luck to Atletico and PSG in the knockout stages.

              Aston Villa 2-3 Real Madrid

A tight game that probably started in a way that neither manager expected from a tactical point of view although that soon changed when we scored the first goal. Madrid levelled shortly into the second period only for us to nudge ahead once again shortly after but with goals flying in at this stage it wasnt long before the away side were back on level terms and for the first time nudged ahead in the game. Tough one to lose having been ahead twice but considering the strength of the opposition it was no mean feat. We do however just hold on to second place by the narrowest of margins as Newcastle finish on level points with us but one goal behind on goal difference. Maybe they will rue switching to a defensive mode during the closing stages of their game.

                Bayern Munich 0 Chelsea 2

A good win against the group winners, but alas we fall short by a single point to qualify from the group. No problem, we at least beat to two qualifiers in our attempt. Good luck to all in the the next round.

                  Arsenal 3 - 2 Barcelona

After losing against Utd in the last round, we knew we still had it in our own hands and a big chance of qualifying from the group stage but we needed a big result in the last group game against Barca and Livi and the side came up trumps with a really good performance and win which was just aswell with Utd winning, they would have moved above us had we dropped points but luckily we showed up and as a result stopped a big side progressing through.

A goal down early doord, we switched it around a bit and a brace from Lamptey and one from Correa booked our place in the last sixteen again which we are delighted about.

                  Played Livi.

                    Newcastle 1 - 0 Inter Milan

Dead rubber for us so we used the chance to get minutes into squaddies, we set up negative to try and not lose too heavily and effect the group, we had a decent showing considering 4 changes but im sure as Ian says they maybe regret changing tactics as no better chance to beat us with a weakened squad, a poor Champions League for us and tbh a poor game for us but we got a vital 90 mins into the legs of squaddies needing 200 mins. gg mate

                      Arsenal 3 Barcelona 2

We were already through but there was no thought about playing back ups etc as there were other teams still chasing qualification and it wouldn't have been fair on them.

Unfortunately for them we can't buy a win at the moment for love nor money and despite leading early we quickly fell behind and although we equalised once we couldn't after Arsenal went 3-2 up. In truth we deserved nothing as Arsenal were clearly the better team on the night.

We're through but our form over the last month has been absolutely diabolical and if we don't start improving pronto we won't be going any further.

Won’t do a PMR but a review of the group stage.

the only team not to take points off me also is the team who thinks we are crap. Cool

Outrageous for anyone to suggest that

...when you are 10th in the league

Midtable is quite good given the calibre of the managers at the top
