    Atletico Madrid 2 PSG 5
Huge slice of luck for us with 16/17 shots on target, and our GK managing to save 8 from 10 shots faced. The sensible choice would have been to start C, but after throwing away a 3 goal lead with it last week, i decided i would go down fighting. We suffered an early setback, so took off a DM after 9 minutes to bring on ESR. We managed to haul ourselves back in front with 2 goals in 2 minutes from Felix and The Georgian. The latter then managed to bag another 3 to take us 5-1 up shortly after the hour mark. We then seemed to ease off the gas and allowed Sancho to pull one back, but it was game over by that point.
We are through with a game to spare, but we cant be too gung ho in the final game, as a 5 goal swing by Man City takes them through as group winners. Would prefer to avoid RM in the QFs, but highly likely i bump into roma.
Our hosts were unlucky in this game, we came expecting a draw, and a draw would probably have been a fair result. However, it makes a change to get the rub of the green for a change.
    GG and unlucky Marshy

      Arsenal 0-3 MANCHESTER UNITED

We've been a complete shadow of what we're capable of at times this season, no more so in Europe needing to win our last 2 games, we've won one and have it all to play for against Lisbon next week. The game today was certainly more like it, after conceding an early penalty which Arsenal missed we then clicked into gear and ran out deserved winners, playing some excellent stuff and being in complete control.

We still have work to do, Barcelona are through and it's up to them if they safe guard players etc, they've earned the right to do so and I probably would in their position to be honest. We have to win against Lisbon and hope Arsenal drop points as our only chance of going through. But if we don't we only have ourselves to blame.

        Boring Munich 1 0 Neutral's Favourite

The treble is still on but we are making it hard for ourselves.

Need to win our last group game to set up a tasty quarter-final game.

Time is running out for old Roma.

          Arsenal 0 - 3 Man Utd

We got just what we deserved for trying to wing it by sending the same sheet in that got a result in the last round and it back fired on us. We know that Utd are beatable after our last game against them and other sides they have faced in the league and being at home I expected a lot more even with the setup we put out but it didn't wuite work out that way.

Its still in our hands to move on from the group stage but we face a top side in Barca and one of the best in the business in Livi so we need to focus on that.

Decisions to make also after an offer for Malacia has found its way to the desk that has got the clubs attention.

            Inter Milan 2-3 Aston Villa

Inter took the lead twenty minutes in but goals for Villa less than ten minutes later and again on the stroke of half time gave us a lead that we never let go. A third goal for us looked to have made the tie comfortable although the home side did net their second of the game with twenty to go just to make the closing stages interesting. Going by the shot count Inter will feel hard done by in this game but its all about finding the back of the net.

              Inter Milan 2 - 3 Aston Villa

really speechless to how we lost this game, so one sided its unreal, battered Villa as the stats show and lost, the game can be cruel sometimes and thats one of these days, we did more than enough to win this never mind lose but this is life, we crash out the group stages and will be playing players for minutes vs Newcastle now, although we will try and remain competitve, a harsh lesson this one where the old saying you dont take your chances but im sure Villa wont care to the nature of luck to the win just that they have won and go through with Madrid unless by some miracle from Newcastle, GG mate

                Barcelona 2 Sporting Lisbon 0

A win which secures our progress into the Quarter Finals which is vital in terms of additional income etc. We've struggled in the league so it's essential we do well in the cup competitions - realistically they are our best opportunity of lifting silverware.

Sporting came to counter us and there really wasn't a great deal in the game. 2-0 flatters us but I think we just about merited the 3 points. Jesus with another goal but it was young Pedri who stole the show with a goal and a man of the match performance. We've knocked back several approaches for him and these type of displays justify our belief in him.

Our joy at progressing is slightly lessened by the fact we eliminate Sporting and by Gaz's continued absence. I know he has got more important stuff on his plate but the game is a lot better when he is around and at full throttle and I hope to see him back sooner rather than later.

                  Newcastle United 4 - 3 Real Madrid

The pressure was off us for this game, so we could afford to somewhat relax a little and maybe not do 1 or 2 very small optimal things that we normally would. That said we picked a strong team and our normal formation and came at them hard and soon found ourselves 3-0 down. We pulled back to 3-3 and it was game on but Newcastle all credit to them got the 4th goal for the win. 4 goals from 7 shots on target you could say is lucky and we was maybe unfortunate to lose this one but you really cannot begrudge losing a game to Chris and Newcastle who actually came at us with an A today, was brave, and I'm happy that they won to be honest. GG Chris.

                    Spurs 1 - 0 Citizens

Top performance against The Citizens and very pleasing seeing a clean sheet against such a great outfit. Myron Boadu got the winner after half an hour played. We kept it tidy and played a good football game. Dominik Szoboszlai had to leave the field ten minutes before the break with an hamstring issue. He’ll be out for our next two games.

                    Played Nick.

Thanks for playing your best side. It has paid off as Spurs can still qualify!

Atletico 2 Paris St Germain 5

                        GG Ed

With a great result by Spurs this game took on even more importance as the winner of this one would be in control of the group.
Atletico got the all important goal 1-0 that gave them home and tactical advantage but this failed to help the home side who crumbled under a clinical PSG who hit a purple patch of attacking form. From one toe in the next round to facing a mountain Atletico conceded 4 quick goals. The second half ended 1-1 and now Madrid must beat Man City at home to qualify for the next round.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Hugely disappointing that the performance is there but the result is a mile off. We have probably done enough to be on 9 points and in need of a draw. Not many sides beat Man City once in a season and we have to somehow find a way of beating them twice"

                        J_Frimpong 22 ned 1 21 15 12 improved his shooting. What a player!
