A nice win for us against a very handy Real Betis outfit who came to the Estadio El Madrigal looking for a positive result themselves. We were always one step ahead though and after taking an early lead before gifting the opposition an own goal to level things back up we went on to deservedly take all the three points on offer.
Good point away at a strong side, who have lots of attacking talent.
We started with the counter, but they scored first, so we switched around tactics a few times.
We were lucky to get the point really, as Celtic had the better of the play, I think we missed our DM Kamara who was suspended, but Celtic we definitely the better team, ul Sam.
So two draws in the league this week, but hanging on in there
One to forget. 18 of 24 shots on target for the Foxes led to a busy night for our keeper who aint that great. We got battered fair and square, but we must pick ourselfs up and beat the ten count and go again for the next round. Couple of transfers done this week to chip away at the squaddies who need minutes and get them out the door while bringing in a little cash to boost the kitty.
We left it late, with both subs scoring late goals to secure a win. Tough playing what I believe is complete random sheets, and Watford have a decent squad so they are no pushovers despite their position. A solid win, but really, we need to keep the points up as Celtic's squad is insane, and with only one going up it's going to be a brutal season for someone (or more because PSV are class too, and Valencia...can we promoted the top sides JB????).
Valencia suffered another disappointing defeat at home, this time to Cardiff City on Thursday, as the Welsh side ran out 3-1 winners.
The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute through Duvan Zapata, and doubled their advantage just before half-time through Jannik Vestergaard.
Valencia pulled one back through Connor Coady in the 80th minute, but there was no way back for the hosts as Thomas Lemar sealed the victory with a late third goal despite the Welsh side being down to 10men for the whole of the second half.
The defeat leaves Valencia in 13th place in the Conference League, while Cardiff City move up to 12th.
Valencia manager Matt Rose was disappointed with the result, but he acknowledged that Cardiff City were the better team on the day.
"We didn't play well enough," he said. "Cardiff City were more aggressive and they deserved to win. We need to learn from this defeat and we need to improve our performance if we want to challenge for the top four this season."
What's Next?
Valencia will look to bounce back from this defeat when they travel to Feyenoord next weekend. Cardiff City, meanwhile, will host Celtic at home.
