Teamsheets MUST be in by 3pm on Game Day
BONANZA DETAILS COMING SOON
Bit of a free hit game for us with us only needing 1 point to progress into the quarter finals. At one point we were 1-2 behind, but we then pushed up the field and fired in 3 goals to give us what was a somewhat comfortable victory. GG GS, still all to play for in terms of 2nd place. Madrid will still be playing a first choice team the rest of the group games.
But 4 games, 4 wins. 100% record so far. Only Real Madrid and Fulham in the DBC have that distinction. Lots of scary looking teams though currently sitting in or could be in 2nd place though, so winning the group doesn't really hold any advantage it would seem.
No wins in our 1st 3 games made this a must win for treble chasing Roma.
Another game where we totally dominated the opposition. Had to wait until the last 30 minutes to score our goals though. Disappointed to get yet another injury. Doubt any other team has lost as many players as Roma.
A very close and tight game but at the same time a rather cagey and perhaps nervous affair. Both teams needing the win but at the same time desperate to avoid defeat which led to a pretty drab game of football. The tie looked destined to end up goalless but in the dying minutes it was the Villa front man Lisandro Martinez who brought a smile to the home sides supporters faces netting a brace in the final six minutes of the game.
You'd think from 3 down to 3 all you'd be happy but I'm more perplexed at full time. Barca missing 3 key players was like a gift going into the game, and yet their first 3 shots went in. We never got going with our attacking, thrown what we have at an 18 in goal, atleast not until the second half. when we salvaged a draw. We played a huge chunk of the game with our 10 rated DF playing, so maybe it did have some impact on the way the game panned?
I don't know but we had a fantastic hand dealt to us and squandered it, nothing to talk about except we still have a chance, if we win the last two games.
But given episodes like today I wont write home about it.

A draw was a fair result based on the teams/formation. We still lead the table on goals scored, with Atletico and Spurs still to play, so our destiny is our own hands.
However, the manner of the result is just another nail in my coffin. Yet again the 23 GK concedes every shot faced, and if you can restrict a team to 3 shots on target and concede 3 goals, then what is the point of putting in the effort. Not the first time it has happened and wont be the last. Rather than try and get my head around all the new changes, i'm beginning to accept that EOS might be a good time to call it a day and pursue other interests.
Our team pretty much picked itself for this one with the strongest players we had available more or less being a 5-2-3. Given their position in the group I expected Man Utd to really go for it so the usual do we counter them question arose but I feel passing generally suits us best so that's what we went with.
6 minutes in we incredibly found ourselves 3 nil up but even then I knew it was far from over with our back up GK doing his best Stevie Wonder impersonation again. United got it back to 3-2 with goals in the 50th and 51st mins. In the 65th we switched to N to gain the glorious tactical bonus and of course promptly conceded a minute later - utterly pointless as per.
At that stage I thought we'll no doubt lose this but 3-3 is how it finished. Quite how we failed to score again after the 6th minute is beyond me given the amount of chances we created. Going into the game I suspected we'd ship a few and so it proved.
A draw along with the stalemate in the other group game means nothing has changed, we're still in a commanding position but there's still work to be done.
We started well enough, even going 2-1 ahead but thats when we should have perhaps closed the door and try and hold on but we have not been this type of team for a few seasons now and we tried as we always do to match the very best sides around, today was no different but we lost and thats that, we now need to go and beat Aston Villa in round 5 to stand a chance of going through, if we lose we are out, if we draw there is some hope but slim, second place still very much up for grabs for either of the three teams. gg mate
A point away in a tricky fixture was what we returned back to North London with but looking at it, we played well enough to get the win which would have really boosted our chances of getting out of the group stage. We won the last game against Lisbon in round three so four points from a side who were fighting at the top of ELF 1 is a decent return.
The other group game ended in a draw so really nothing much changes but we end the group stage with two home games which will give us a great chance of making it through to the knock out stages once again. Madueke and Loctaelli getting the goals for us.
Both teams set up to try and win a game that would retain some hope in the group of death. Atletico were the stronger side on the night and deservedly were victorious with goals from Vinicius (2) and Sancho.
Results elsewhere perhaps went against Atletico leaving them 3rd in the group with 7 points.
manager Simon Marsh commented “really pleased we have stayed in the hunt to give the fancied sides a scare. We have them both to play at home but it’s likely we will need 4 points still to have a chance of qualifying. Concerns with regards to the possibility of Spurs playing weakened teams remain. We can only hope and request that Spurs keep the integrity of the competition and play to get a result”.
We decided to go for it but failed. Two early goals from Vinicius Jr. settled the game. Myron Boadu made it 2-1 but we didn’t seem to get our play going. The home side was in total control of the game and a late goal from Jadon Sancho secured a 3-1 win for the host. Another disappointing CL campaign and we’re out of the race. Unsure what to do in the last two games of the group stages. It’s a perfect opportunity to give our squad players 180 min but like Simon mentioned, is it fair for the Madrid club?
