    Juventus 4 - 1 Napoli

Napoli came into town tonight on the back of a 5 game winning run that saw them put 5 goals past Bayern Munich last time out.

We felt that we had enough of an advantage to throw caution to the wind and started the game with an all out attack approach while Napoli did their usual 1st minute change as they opted for a passing tactic.

It took just 6 minutes for our advantage to take it's toll as F_Wirtz was slipped through to give us the lead early on.

We stuck with our attacking approach and 2 goals in 2 minutes (33rd and 34th) put us 3-0 up and the tie was well in our hands heading into the break.

The visitors managed to pull a goal back in first half stoppage time but 2 minutes after the restart, F_Wirtz scored his hat trick to restore our 3 goal advantage.

The rest of the half was a formality with us maintaining the 3 goal advantage to record a key win against one of the form teams in the league.

Some good abs for some key players ahead of a crucial game in Europe next week.

Statistically there was only 1 team in it and we were well worth the result, maybe not by 3 goals but we'll take it. Good game Chris.

Atletico Madrid 1 Red Bull Leipzig 0

      GG Mike

Red Bull arrived with a sea of red but threw up a long-ball game which caused the home side a stubborn proposition. The shot count was limited to a 9-3 shot count in a drab game. It looked for so long like it would end goalless but Paqueta won the game in the 79' minute

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Well at least I turned up to the right stadium this week but plenty of fans were perhaps hoping they hadnt given the standard of football. A win it is though which keeps us up there but its proving a very difficult task when 2 points per game is miles of the pace".

Romagnoli improved his defending to 21-14-12
On-loan Zubimendi improved his tackling to 13-18-5

Next up the all important Champions League game versus Spurs in a must win fixture for both sides.

        Real Sociedad 1 - 2 Real Madrid

We were clinging on a little towards the end, but any day in which you lose a man to a red card and still win, is a blessed day. The three points was important today after a couple of recent blips in cup and league and that's all that mattered. Hopefully performances can start to pick up too now and we can start to get on a roll again.

Was a good round really, with PSG losing. Only 2 points off the top.

Next up, a vital game against in form Inter in the Champions League.

          Leverkusen 2-3 Lisbon

A very frustrating game, we went 2-0 up and seemed to be cruising, but Lisbon dragged us back down, a goal at a time until they got the winner in the 88th minute.

On another day we could have walked away with all 3 points, Stats wise it was pretty even, but again we just seem to be lacking something (other than a keeper with a pair of hands)

          Good game gaz

            Schalke 2-1 MARSEILLE

Lost in the last couple of moments hurts but a bit naive to think we'd go positive again after we did so well against Juventus. Schalke looked more up for it and they certainly was the better team and got what they deserved, a complete contrast to last week. We'll have a look and go again so to speak, but does feel back to the drawing board.

              AC Milan 2 3 Roma

3 wins out of 3 with our reserve GK and fully deserved the 3 points here.

AC varied their tactics without much success.

We remain undefeated in the league and hit top spot.

Long way to get with the DA twins on our tail.

                Inter Milan 6 - 2 Barcelona

Games against livi is always difficult, we knew they had a GK out but have been beaten before in these situations so we were not taking it lightly, I thought Livi was going to counter us but he stuck to his tried and tested formation but we managed a quick goal and then switched to C and scored another, we soon found ourselves 4-0 at halftime and knew the game was done. Its harsh though as difficult circumstances for Barca made worse by a sending off and an injury for them, Livi I’m sure is feeling annoyed at the timing of such bad luck but like all legends of managers he will bounce back. Atletico Madrid 1 - 0 RB Leipzig
A solitary goal decided this game and Leipzig were no match for Atletico Madrid and consequently they lost. A different set of tactics maybe helped with the marginal result but RB wouldn't weren't in with a chance to make the score any more than a loss. Just a matter of minutes for the fringe players this season.

                    Inter 6 Barcelona 2

Knew it would be tough with our starting GK out but I have to say I expected more from his back up although our set up/tactic probably didn't help the situation as Inter countered us after their early opener.

The goals were flying in and I think we'd have lost even with our starter playing to tell the truth, we simply weren't good enough.

A bad day was made even worse with a red card for Anguissa and an injury to Walker to leave us in all sorts of trouble ahead of Man Utd's visit to Camp Nou tomorrow. 3 key absentees puts us into damage limitation mode which is frustrating for such an important game but we have to try to make things as difficult as possible for them to try and maintain our strong position in the group.

Played GS, an emphatic win as the no strikers approach pays dividends in esms yet again

                      Schalke 2-1 Marseille

Schalke had the upper hand for much of the match, which has not happened very often this season. New signing Freuler fit right in with his new teammates, contributing four key passes. Auction signing Castellanos was Man of the Match putting on a clinic of what it means to defend from the front.

Possession was about equal but much of the play was held in Marseille's final third as evidenced by Schalke's 22 to 12 attempts on goal advantage. We certainly will be working on our finishing in training this week. With the competitiveness of this league we've got to take as many points as we can get when the opportunity presents. Usually a point is welcome but in this case dropping two would have been a little disappointing. Fortunately for us we managed the game winner two minutes into stoppage time in smash and grab fashion.

                      Good game Steve.

                        Real Sociedad 1-2 Real Madrid

Deserved a lot more from this than what we got. Gave Madrid a battle and half and at least merited a draw. The whole team put in solid performances especially Eriksen who linked the midfield and attack incredibly well.

The fun doesn't stop and we face Roma next looking to try cause an upset.

                          Monaco 0 - Lazio 2

After victory over Leipzig last time out we went with the same squad that was successful in that match, retaining Cataldi in the starting line-up over the available Haidara.

Lazio are stronger than us in all areas, De Gea and Mbappe would walk into most teams in the league but would be shining stars at the Stade Louis II. Less than 15 minutes into the match Lazio took the lead as Mbappe opened the scoring smashing a volley past Hradecky in the Monaco goal with his 5th of the season.

We managed to hold on to the game and get to half time only 1 goal behind, but 10 minutes into the second half Mbappe doubled the lead for Lazio with a goal similar to his goal in the first half and at that point Lazio reverted to a more defensive approach to try and hold onto their lead.

We carried on pressing for a goal for the remaining 35 minutes but De Gea in the Lazio goal was equal to everything that we could throw at him. Statistics for the match were actual fairly equal, both teams managed 5 shots on the target and there was only a small difference in possesion figures - the important bit however is that Lazio were able to do significantly more with the ball.

Good game Drum, good luck for the rest of the season.

had to find a way to extract better from lazio, John is never easy to play and to figure out,

mbappe has started the season well, and has started to repay the faith, after all I considered swapping him, think this is his way of telling me I’m a fool.

As mentioned Ddg, has been doing ok, and hasn’t conceded like he did last season,

stats close and performance was ok,

importantly we walked away 3 points better off. Cheers John.
