A much needed win following a run of poor results, with Schalke deviating from the usual E or D, given them tactical advantage for the whole game. But relentless pressure and the strength of our squad came through as McGinn got the double to seal a comfortable win and probably our first clean sheet ever in FFO!
More importantly, Juventus lost by 1 goal to Inter meaning we jump them again by 1 goal difference (if my maths doesn’t fail me)
Good game Chris, will be a tough old season for you.

With the game stuck at 0-0 at half time after having a goal disallowed , i wasnt very hopeful, but 3 goals in the 2nd half made the result look like a convincing win. A very rare clean sheet. two massive performances in the middle of the park from Vitinha and the georgian take them to 21-20 and 21-19 respectively, joining our 3xDMs at that level. We can now shift our focus away from passing abs, and try and be a little more attacking, now we have boosted the supply channel.
Annoyingly, we cannot shake off Real Madrid, who won thanks to Mati parting his butt cheeks and presenting himself, and Roma who managed a very fortunate late winner.

Entertaining game at the San Siro as Madrid hit AC for six away from home. The home team did score 4 times though which was disapointing! With AC Milan setting up with E in their last game for which they supposedly thought they was playing RM, it wasn't a suprise to see them switch to a solid looking P formation in this one to switch things up. Or maybe Mati thought I'd not play C with him flashing his E so felt safe to deploy the P? Regardless, was a good end to end game and big money summer signing from Juventus Leao was the star of the show with 2 goals earning him some chunky abs. GG Mati.
Next game is the cup QF vs Barca, and unfortunately our best striker Rodrygo is out after picking up another yellow. Barca do have a DM out though, but it's advantage Barca with Rodrygo watching from the stands you have to say.
Expected Leverkusen to come out attacking so planned to counter their tactics. The plan was correct but the result was not in our favor. Schalke were completely over run by Leverkusen, really not much we could have done tactically. After two wins in a row I knew at some point things would average out. Time to forget this result and move on, we're still in the middle of the relegation battle.
A very even game on the stats, although im sure Andy and Juventus will be unhappy to lose this one so late on with Lukaku scoring on the 89th minute to win the game, its a great for us though so often than not we would finish these games drawing or even losing a late goal but not today, we need to keep the form up in a division with so many good sides and Champions League places are at a premium oh and collect ÂŁ15 from Jason. GG Andy
Another top team came to Atletico with pressure on the home side after losing to a bottom half of the table side. A big performance was needed but this game looked to be settled by the referees red care to Anguissa with Barca leading 0-1. Frimping and Diaby scored not long after taking the 1-man advantage and the overall shot count of 15-9 was a little flattering.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "These are the breaks you need. Last game we concede an own goal that puts us on the back foot, this game we get the extra man and make it count"
Two goals either side of half time settled this one sided game with RB Leipzig's poor lacklustre effort on the pitch a big disappointment after putting in a decent shift against Roma in there previous league game although it was a defeat. So a change is required for the next match probably tactical in some way.
Leipzig caught us out tactically but I think squad strength and home advantage got us a valuable three points. Ruben Semedo had an exceptional game and his versatility is proving really useful for us in defence. Joey Veerman is progressing nicely and scoring two goals will have only helped this. This moves us up into fourteenth place and most importantly six points ahead of Schalke. If we can keep adding to that gap we have a good chance of staying up.
Played Mike, unlucky.
Marshy summed it up pretty well to be fair. We got ourselves in front but the straight red card for our star defensive midfielder just after the half hour mark scuppered things for us there's no doubt about that. Second straight game with a sending off for us virtually in the exact same minute so we can only hope it's not a case of three in a row when we entertain Real in the cup tomorrow night.
Frustrating stuff but fair play to Marshy he played positively and they took full advantage of our misfortune.
Onto the big cup quarter final with both sides missing a key player. Going to be tough but hopefully we can put in a strong performance.
A tough one to take, as GS said it was an even game between 2 similarly rated squads playing exactly the same formation/tactics but it was the away team who stole the points in the closing minutes and we didn't have enough time to recover.
We can't seem to get a good run going in the league unfortunately and I fear results like this, where we were at home and the slightly better team but lose, will be our undoing this season.
Our luck was over already at our last cup match, we are able to play hand to hand against everyone but we are unable to close a match, we even were ahead at a point in the game.
After the fuck up against Rangers, thinking we would play RM, we changed plans and went P hoping for Steve to go with an A, which was what they did, but they were able to take the lead early anyways, with the Match 0-2 we were playing full attack and were able to tie before HT and take the lead early in the 2nd Half, but couldn't hold it and were humiliated 6-4 at home.
It just shows that we were being lucky up to now. Just disappointed we couldn't get at least 1 point out of this one.
Hoping this Tuesday off will give us a fresh start for the next games and can get back into the winning track.
