    Schalke 3 Atletico Madrid 0

    GG Chris

The EFL is unrelenting and to keep pace then one must beat all the side expected to finish in the bottom half. Schalke league form going into the game provided Atletico with that chance to keep pace. Atletico were surprised by the defensive tactics used and that surprise got only worse when a random own goal was conceded after only 3 minutes. Atletico went on to produce the more chances 11-13 but 9 and 17 rated shooters were able to do what 17/18 and 21 rated Atletico players couldnt and somehow the home side were victorious 3-0.

Manager Simon Marsh admitted "That is a hugely damaging defeat as we fall away from the top end. Results elsewhere as expected went to form so we were the massive losers in R10. We just dont seem to be able to score goals this season. The defence has 2 goals from 40 attempts, Sessegnon, Diaby and Berghuis are all under-performing and Vinicious is out of form".

Mbabu rose to a 20-17-4 player.

      Barcelona 2 - Monaco 1

Barcelona are a team we always perform well against, and yet never seem to get a result! Haidara returned to the starting line-up having missed the game against Schalke and Pastore came in for his debut to replace the injured Aubameyang, while the departing Pereira was left out of the squad completely.

Pastore made an immediate impact as, with only 3 minutes on the clock, he broke through on goal only for Gulacsi in the Barcelona goal to bring him down and earn us a penalty which Immobile converted to give us an early lead.

Shortly afterwards Barcelona equalised with a goal from Jesus assisted by an error by the normally reliable Hradecky in the Monaco goal. On the half hour mark Saint Maximin was sent off following a foul on Soumare and we got to half time with the scores equal but Monaco with a man advantage.

With 15 minutes to go Michail Antonio broke forwards for Barcelona and following an interchange with a winger got his head on the end of a cross and planted it past Hradecky to give Barcelona the lead and we never got back into the match.

This is now 2 unfortunate results on the bounce, something needs to change and quickly!

Good game Livi, good luck for the rest of the season.
