Our defeat last time out at Juventus was always going to have far reaching consequences with both Haidara and Pereira suspended and Iago and Cataldi, making his first appearance of the season, coming into the starting line-up and Pepe featuring in the match day squad for the first time.
We took the lead in the match just before the 20 minute mark as Aubameyang pounced in a mistake in the Schalke defence to grab the opener.
Schalke forward Polter went off injured with 5 minutes of the first half remaining but in many ways this played into his teams hands as his replacement scored an equaliser in the fourth minute of injury time at the end of the first half.
Just before the hour mark Aubameyang pulled his hamstring and was forced to come off and be replaced by Cordoba and less than 5 minutes later Schalke took a lead that we weren't able to conquer in the remaining 30 minutes of the match and we ended up losing a match we should have been able to win.
